Krakatoa reporters are Steven Cere and Glenn Ferguson. Trip to Conservation Area On Friday, January 30, Grade 4 Room 9 travelled to the West Wawanosh Conserva- tion Area to play Inuit Games. When they came back, they ate lunch and had recess. Then, everyone went to the gym to watch a play performed by the Erwehon Theatre. Also, the class would like to thank Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Logtenberg for coming in on Pay Day. The reporters for the class are Gail Daily and Crystal Brindley. Sports news Brookside students have just completed the senior road hockey and broomball houseleague and the junior volleyball houseleague. Congratulations to Team 4 in road hockey, Team B in broombali.and Team 8 in volleyball. The school will soon begin the junior floor hockey houseleague and the seniors will soon be playing basketball. The junior boys' and girls' volleyball teams will travel to Goderich on February 11 to compete in -a tournament. Good luck to both teams. Novel Study The pupils in Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 class have started a novel study on such animals stories as Lad, a dog, The Incredi- ble Journey, Just Plain Cat and Black Beauty. Mrs. Graham visited the Grade 5 class last week to do a lesson on focal point. It all turned out to -be a lesson on "The Perils of Paint." Kindergarten Mrs. Blanchette and Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten classes 1 and 2 would like to thank Mr. Don Cameron for the beautiful doll house and elephant puzzle. Money unit Miss Jewitt's Grade 2 Room 3 class is *tatting a unit on money. The class has cut out some paper money to help in their study. The class would also like to wish Bil- ly Tucker a happy 8th birthday on February 3. Crystal Hickey was the class "All About Me" person this week. The Grade 2 reporters are Caley Moore and Jassi Dhaliwal. Travelling game Mr. Culp's Grade 4-5 Portable 2 class is having a wonderful time playing the travelling game. this is how you play. Mr. Culp flips up a math fact question and you try to guess the answer before the person beside you. You travel until you get the wrong answer. Then, the person who won begins the travel and the person who lost sits down. The reporters for Grade 4-5 are Michelle MacGillivray and Michael Bakker. Survey The Brookside reporters are going to poll some students and teachers with various questions from time to time and they'll let the readers in on their results. This week's question is: "What is your favorite winter sport?" Some of the answers were: Mac Hackett, Grade 4 - .5, "snowmobiling"; Jessica Daily, Grade 2, "skating"; Doug Johnston, Grade 7, "hockey"; Miss Clynick, Phys. Ed teacher, "downhill ski- ing"; Mr. Tremeer, Principal, "curling". Silver Lake 4-H names executive By April Brindley and Connie Husk The Silver Lake 4-H Club got off to a good start at their first meeting recently with 14 members, two of which are new members. Themembers have voted on their ex- ecutive with the president being Tracy Smolenaars, and vice-president Tammy Husk. The treasurer is Jill Campbell while. the secretary's position will, rotate among the members. At the meeting, the 4-H group talked about how to be safe when you are alone in your home and what to do in case of a burglary. They also learned the difference between a good fuse and a bad one and what to do if your sink gets clogged. Everyone is enjoying the new club so far.
