Lucknow beat Mildmay 3-2 in sudden death overtime after Glenda Morrison, assisted by Kay Morrison, dumped in the winning goal to put Lucknow into the consolation finals at the Mount Forest Broomball tournament held on January 9, 10 and 11. (Mount Forest Confederate photo) Lazers compete at tourney The Lucknow Lazers played exceptional broomball at the tournament °held in Mount Forest on January 9, 10 and 11. Their opening game was against Parr Line of the Seaforth league. The opponents overpowered Lucknow 1-0 which put Lucknow into the B division. The girls went on to beat Mildmay 3-2 in sudden death overtime which put them in the consolation finals against the Seaforth Queens. This proved to be the . most exciting game for the Lucknow team. Seaforth held a 1-0 lead until;, with 42 seconds left in the second period, Lucknow tied up the score to send the game into overtime. Unfor- tunately, the Queens dominated the five - minutes regulation overtime with the final score being 5-2.. Pee Wee B's post well-deserved win Belmore arrived in Lucknow on Satur- day, January 11 for a re -match with the - hometown boys. Lucknow coaches Barry Johnston and Ray Brown shifted some players and came up with some different line-ups. Lucknow 6 Belmore Lucknow played well in the first period to end it with a one goal lead when Dennis Johnston scored from Stanley Kikkert. During the second period, Lucknow played offensively and added two more goals. Matthew Sproulscored unassisted. and Stanley Kikkert scored from Steven Rintoul. Several penalties were handed out during during the seond period for roughing, charging and tripping. With only seconds left in the second period, Belmore's Sean Patterson scored from Duane Patterson. The score at the end of the second period was 3-1 for Lucknow. Lucknow's Travis Brown scored unassisted early in the third period and Belmore answered back when Duane Pat- terson netted one from Mitch Wright and John Ireland. ' The remainder of the third period kept referee Guay busy handing out more roughing, slashing and high sticking penalties. Lucknow managed two more goals by Stanley Kikkert and Steven Rin- toul with assists going to Chris Humphrey, Matthew Sproul -and Mark Bakker. Dennis Johnston and John Ireland were both handed fighting, roughing and game misconduct penalties to end the game. Goalie Allan Kikkert played a good game again for Lucknow to bring the team up with a well played game and a final score of 6-2 for Lucknow. Good game guys!
