South Kinloss WMS
to study Southeast

The South Kinloss WMS met on January
7 in the church parlour. There were 13
members in attendance.
Sharon MacDougall, the president, open-
ed the first meeting of 1987 with a reading
that made the members think of repewing
and refreshing their spirits with (hod in
this New Year which is yet virtually un-
marred. This was followed by a hymn.
Margaret Keith, the hostess, showed an
informative film strip which introduced
everyone to Southest Asia, the study book
for this year.
Ann MacDougall gave the Bible study
from Exodus 3 relating to the, burning
bush.
Partaking in the prayer circle was Olive
sia
Needham an I ki . Lavis, followed by a
hymn.
The offering was followed by an offer-
tory prayer by Vera Schmidt.
The treasurer's report was given by
Doris MacKinnon. Margaret Keith gave
her report on the Ladies' Aid, Thank -you
notes were read by Mary Pinkney and
Janie Hamilton.
Various business matters were discugs-
ec„ and dealt with.
Margaret Hamilton closed the meeting
with a reading on the New Year. Margie
Collyer lead the closing prayer. Courtesy
remarks were heard by Ann MacDougall
followed by a hymn.
—Liffich was served by the directors and a
time of fellowship followed.
Delicious desserts served at meeting
The January meeting of the St" Helen's
Women's Institute was held on January 8
at 1:15 p.m. in the St. Helen's Hall.
All winter meetings will be held at this
time and begin with refreshments.
Opening with the Institute Grace,
delicious desserts were served by Elaine
Errington and Celia Aitchison. After the
Institute Ode and the Mary Stewart Col-
lect, the Rollcall, "What resolutions would
you like the Institute to make for the next
year/" gave some ideas to be carried out
including to finish the siding on the outside
of the hall and the flooring and wallpaper-
ing of the new washrooms. The resolutions
proposed by
ro osed the Federated Women's In-
stitutes of Ontario (FWIO) were read by
Celia Aitchison.
Correspondence included a notice of the
90th anniversary of the Women's Institute
to be held in North Bay on July 6 to 9. The
next 4-H club will be "Surviving in Style"
which Lila Rintoul consented to lead with a
senior 4-H girl to assist her. An invitation
to a social evening to celebrate Sadie
Barber's 80th birthday at the Wingham
Legion on .fanuary 17 was received. The
shoot parti s are to start again beginning
on Monda , January 12.
Isabel' Gaunt gave "Minutes of
Yesteryear!' for 1965. Isobel Miller as con-
venor of Resolutions read the 11 resolu-
tions passed at the annual meeting for 1985
of the FWIO which were forwarded to the
various ministers in he Ontario
legislature. A number of a icles were also
read by Isobel Miller.
A spelling bee conducted by Edith
Cooper was won by Isabel Gaunt and a
contest of making words from pictures
conducted by Celia Aitchison was won by
Norma Raynard. An amusing poem was
read by Elaine Errington.

Holmes family pay visit to Daltons
Jim and Connie Holmes and family of
Newton visited with the. Cletus Dalton
family.
Congratulations to Stewart and Donna
Alton on the birth of their son Blake.
Another grandson for Henry and Bernice
Drennan.
Cathy Cook has returned home after be
ing a patient in Wingham hospital for a few
days. The community wishes her a speedy
recovery.
A welcome to wee Angela Dalton to the
community. She's the newborn daughter of
Shawn and Laurie Dalton.
