Teeswater defeats Midgets
in exciting game Monday
The Lucknow Midgets played one of the
most exciting games of the season against
their rivals from Teeswater last Monday
night.
Teeswater 10 Lucknow 8
The entire team, along with Lucknow
goalie Craig Irwin, put up a tremendous
battle against the always -tough
Teeswater team.
Lucknow's first goal was scored by
Kevin DeJong, unassisted. The second
goal of the first period was registered by
Scott Hackett, assisted by Kirk Livingston
and Kevin DeJong. Lucknow led at the end
of the first period by a score of 2-2.
The second period was a very fast -
paced, exciting period with a total of six
goals being scored. Jeff Gammie scored
the first goal of the second period,
unassisted. The second goal was scored by
Scott Hackett assisted by Jeff Burgsma.
The third goal scored by Lucknow in the
second came from Jeff Gammie, another
unassisted goal. The period ended in a 5-5
tie.
In the third period, Kirk Livingston
scored two consecutive goals, both slap -
shots from the blue line. These goals were
assisted by Scott Hackett and Jeff'Pollard.
Lucknow's last goal of the game was
scored by John Vandervelde, assisted by
Jeff Gammie and Steve DeJong.
At the end of the game, the score was
10-8 for Teeswater. The Lucknow team
should be pleased with the way they
played. It was terrific!
Tykes take tumble against Teeswater
The Lucknow Tyke dressing room was
full to the brim with 19 of the 20 players, all
eager to accomplish the big task at hand -
to avenge an earlier loss to the fleet -of -foot
Teeswater Tykes.
Teeswater came to Lucknow on January
10, looking to put another notch in their
belts. They defeated the Lucknow boys
(and girls) earlier in the season by a 9-1
count.
Teeswater 8 Lucknow 1
This time, as well as the last time, the
Teeswater team put on a superior skating
and stick -handing exhibition in. beating
Lucknow to the puck which ultimately
resulted in goals. The game ended 8-1 in
favor of Teeswater.
For Lucknow, it was again a game of
missed opportunities, as goal posts and
good goaltenders continued to foil the Tyke
shooters. Near the end of the game,
defenceman Ian Paolin's shot, which look-
ed to be a sure goal, somehow stayed out
as the goalie reached back to save the
goal.
The lone Lucknow goal resulted from a
goal -mouth scramble as defenceman
Craig offat managed to jam it home to
spoil a Teeswater-shut-out.
The yke team was sorry to learn that
their scrappy little winger, Miranda
McDonald, will be lost to the team for
some time as she suffered an ankle injury
at home. Get better soon, Miranda.
Atom A's beat. Belgrave, lose to Goderich
Last Tuesday night, Belgrave came to
town for a game against the Lucknow
Atom, "A's". • With some fine playing by
Lucknow, they came out on top by a score
of 9-2.
Lucknow 9 Belgrave 2
Goals were scored by Clint Murray with
a hat trick and three assists. Matt Drennan
picked up two goals with singles going to
Tom Chilton, Scott Rintoul, Robin Paolin
and Steve Porter. Other assists went to
Robin Paolin, with two, Shawn Belmore,
