Pleasant euchre gathering at Holyrood
The Women's Institute held a very plea-
sant gathering at the Holyrood Community
Centre on Monday evening for the first
euchre party. Five tables were in play with
the ladies' prize winners being Mrs. Alex
Percy and Mrs. Verna Finlayson. The
gents prizes went to Gerald Rhody and
Jack Scott. They plan to continue these
evenings and all are welcome.

The community congratulates Tara
Thacker, the 11 -year-old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Eric Thacker of South Line and a
Grade 6 student at the Lucknow Central
Public School, who placed first in the
Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance
Day Writing Contest. Her topic was "The
Poppy". This was a splendid essay and
Tara's both grandfathers served in the Se-
cond World War.
Congratulations to Mrs. Mark (MMry )
Johnston of Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow
who celebrated her 93rd birthday on
December 27 with family and friends. Mrs.
Johnston was formerly of Concession 8.
Mrs. William MacPherson of Concession
10 has b en a patient in the Kincardine and
District Hospital. She was taken by am-
bulance to Owen Sound one day for further
tests and returned back to Kincardine.
M and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited on
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomp-
son and family of Pinkerton.
ACW meeting
The Anglican Church Women held their
January meeting at the home of Mrs. Roy
Collins..The ladies gathered for a quilting
which was followed by a delicious noon
luncheon.
The president, Mrs. Collins, welcomed
everyone and opened the meeting with a
Meditation on Faith, followed by prayer.
Mrs. Eric Thacker read the scripture
from Galations Chapter 3 and each
member answered the rollcall with a verde
from the book of Proverbs.
„,Mrs. Ronald Thacker read the minutes
of the December meeting and gave the
financial statement which was most grati-
fying and also read a letter of thanks from
the Women's House of Bruce County for
the generous donation of clothing and
household articles which ladies donated.
There was also a lovely letter of thanks
from Bishop James Allen of the Keewatin
Diocese for the bales which were sent from
here in time for distribution a Christmas.

close the meeting. Mrs. hacker gave
the courtesy remarks.
Mrs. Delbert Hedle will be the
February hostess and Mrs. John Visser the
convenor.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacMillan and
ngela of Mount Hagen, Papua, New
uinea, are enjoying a visit here._Robert is
a brother of Mrs: Stewart Lane and Bar-
bara is a niece of Mrs. Fred Guest. Both
families enjoyed having them for a visit.
Birthday party
Friends, relatives and neighbors of Mrs.
George Graham, formerly of here, were
happy on Saturday to be guests at Belle's
apartment at Lucknow to help her
celebrate her special birthday. Mrs. Glen
Young greeted and welcomed all and she
and Mrs. Hogan did the serving. Happy
Birthday was sung and the guest of honor
was wished was wished health and hap-
piness and more birthdays ahead. It was a
really delightful time of reminiscing and
everyone enjoyed being together on such a
special occasion. She was the recipient of
many nice love tokens which she can Ilse
and enjoy. Folks were present from Kin-
cardine, Kinloss, Kinlough, Lucknow, and
the Armow area. '
Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Stanley visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Stanley at Lucknow. So
glad Lula is home again and abre to be
busy in her kitchen.

Who will is program help? Mainly
people who are physically develop-
mentally or psychiatrically handicapped,
battered women, homeless people and
other socially disadvantaged persons.
The Ministries of Housing, Health,
and Community and Social Services are
working together to help people through-
out Ontario who require a combination of
support -care services and housing.
Projects that house low-income
families and senior -citizens as well as dis-
advantaged groups will be considered.
Innovative housing projects for disadvan-

taged, low-income, single people will also
be considered on a demonstration basis.

Interested community groups and non-
profit organizations are invited to
attend orientation sessions on the devel-
opment of housing with support. services.
Meetings will be held in February at
each Regional Office of the Ministry of
Housing.
Representatives from the Ministries
involved will be on hand tospeak and to
answer questions.
Local community organizations
wishing to sponsor non-profit housing
projects can apply for government grants
to cover the costs of establishing non-
profit housing corporations.
