meeting.
Mrs. Russ Button presided and opened
with a reading. Mrs. Bradley read an In
Memorium poem in memory of Miss Lor-
na Campbell and in memory of Mrs. Mac-
Farlane's father, Mr. William Dagnall,
who passed away recently in Toronto in his
101st year.
All sang a hymn followed by the rollcall -
a New year's thought and the payment of
fees.
The scripture was read by Mrs. Mayme
Henderson and the Meditation was taken
by Mrs. Eldon Bradley; with some
thoughts on Epiphany and the New Year.
Mrs. Peter Cook took a chapter from the
Mandate and Rev. and Mrs. MacFarlane
added some interesting experiences with
the Indians on a reserve in northern On-
tario. The prayer was taken by Mrs. -Ver-
non Hunter.
Unit I ..

The January meeting for Unit 1 of the
Lucknow UCW was held on January 6 at
the Pinecrest Nursing Home.
The business part of the meeting was
held in the activity room while -the
residents were served muffins supplied by
the committee in charge in the dining
room.
The leader, Grace Gibson, welcomed all
present and read a New Year's verse. The
minutes of the last meeting were read and%
approved. The treasurer's report was read
for 1986 and proved verysuccessful.
The rollcall was answered by 13
members with payment of fees and a New
Year's resolution. The Birthday Jar was
passed for Jean Conley and Mrs. Stuart
Reavie who had January birthdays. It was
decided to continue giving the special pro-
ject envelope.
On Sunday, January 11, a special church
service will be held with the installation of
the UCW officers. Several other occasions
were. iscussed as the year marks the 125th
annive ary of the church.
After • usiness, the members joined
the Pinecrest residents for the devotional
part of the meeting which was chaired by
Mrs. Stuart Reavie. She read a . suitable
verse for the New' Year and also a scrip-
ture reading from Psalm 96. Many favorite
hymns were sung with Mrs. Wes Ritchie on
the piano.
The Meditation . for the New Year, was
given by Grace Gibson reminding the
members to continue looking to God for
His continued help as in the past, followed
by prayer led by Noma Campbell.
Two beautiful musical selections were
enjoyed with Mrs. Bert Moffat and Jean
Conley on the piano and auto -harp. Three
favorite hymns were followed by a reading
by Noma Campbell.
The Lord's Prayer was repeated and the
members enjoyed lunch and a social hour
with everyone looking forward to the
fellowship of another year.
Unit 2
By Mrs. Eldon Bradley
Unit 2 of the Lucknow UCW met in the
church parlour on Tuesday, January 6 at
noon when the. committee served soup and
sandwiches prior to the meeting. A total of

Mrs. Hackett gave the treasurer's report
for 1986, with a total of $666.70 raised by the
unit.
Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Mrs.
Mayme Henderson and Helen Thompson
who have upcoming January birthdays.
The offering was taken and dedicated by
Mrs. Button. Miss Helen Thompson gave
an inspiring stewardship thought. Mrs.
. Button gave the announcements and
discussion followed regarding the making
of programs for this year.
Mrs. Button gave the courtesies n he
closing hymn was sung. Mrs. Bradley clos-
ed with a poem and all repeated the
Benediction.
Unit 3
-Unit 3 of the Lucknow UCW met at the
Sepoy Apartments on January 6. Mrs. Lois
Walden' welcomed all and read an ap-
propriate New Year's poem.
The devotions were given by Mrs„,,
Houston. She also explained that New
Year's was celebrated many years ago,
but was set on January 1 as far back as the I
15th century. °-
Hymn 571 was sung and a scripture
reading was given by Mrs. Jardine. The
Meditation on the four roads travelled by
Jesus - the Jerico Road, the road to
Calvary, or the Via Dolorosa, and the Em -
