fed grains .and oilseeds ' are
eligible if fed to cattle, hogs and
sh, . The net sales (gross sales-
putc ) is multiplied by, the
commodity factor' (swine 51.3%,
sheep 26.3%). This number is.
added to thenet grain and oilseed
sales.
The. following . are some tips
which will help to complete this.
application:'
1) The commodity factor for beef
is still undecided. Stay tuned to
your media, as it will be announced
shortly.
2) The net grain and oilseed sales
for livestock- commodities equals
Gross Grains and Oilseeds sales
plus Crop Insurance, Agricultural
Stabilization Act, Special Grains
Assistance minus seed and grain
purchases, prepared feed and pro-
tein supplements.
3) Since this is a grains and
oilseed program, only the grain and
oilseed portion of feed is included
as a feed purchase. From your total
feed bill ;subtract the cost of salt,
mineral, hay and straw purchases.
The trucking cost of any grain
purchase can be subtracted. Pre -
pitted feed and protein spppiontem

'AR REPORT
Bruce County OMAF
will have only a portion that is
actually grains and oilseeds. The
rest is preparation costs, trucking,;
drugs and other protein by-products.
These can be subtracted. (Contact
your local feed ' dealer : to get the
approximate percentage 'of grain
and oilseeds in these feedstuffs).
4) Use the gross sales of livestock
Product you sold for your calcula-
tion. This is the value " on your
statement before trucking, commis-
sion, tripartite, etc is subtracted.
For the 1990 program, farmers
are able to use the best of the 1988,
1989 or 1990 year. If 1988 or 1989
is your best year, then an acreage
conversion mast also be calculated
based on the number of acres
cropped in 1990. A one page sheet
has been developed to help deter-
mine which year is the best one to
use.
