(Pat Livingston photo) Recession fears unfounded - Fears that the recession would bring greater workloads for the Bruce County Children's Aid Society (CAS) were unfounded, according to executive director Richard Mullen. In a report to Bruce County coun- cil Tuesday, Oct. 15, Mullen said the CAS expected a "significant increase in demand" for services because of the recession and- the stress it puts on families. But to date that hasn't happened. Mullen said familieshave pulled together and drawn on' relatives or friends to get through tough times. The Society's caseload is up from last year, with 61 children in care, 136 families gettirrg services and 20 new requests for service every month. But Mullen said the increase is not significant, and predicted a $100,000 surplus in his $1.8 million budget by year end. • Makes donation from page 2 law, authorizing the repair work.
