an auctite sale of, some

and Hamilton MacKhmon
was held in the Huron
Township Garage at the mit
end of Malcolm Street in
Ripley. In charge were
auctioneers Grant McDonald
of Smoky Hollow, Concession
2, Huron Township and
Wallace Ballagh of the
Teeswater area. There was a
good attendance and good
prices were realized,

• November 7 the Ripley
Huron Legion Branch 440
paraded to the Knox
Presbyterian 'Church for the
morning service at ten.
Tomorrow (Thurs., Nov. 11)
• they gather at ten thirty at
the legion hall for the
• parade. In the afternoon the
hockey drew will be made
tip. Legion President Bill
Reeves lists two big events
for December. On Saturday
the Fourth the annual Lego
banquet will be held and on
Friday evening December 17
the annual Legion Christmas
dance will be held in the
Ripley Huron Community
Centre Complex with the
Glenn Boyd Orchestra

A cattle round up was held
about eight last Sunday
morning on the fifteen north
of Ripley about half way
between the places of John
D. MacKay and Wallace
Pollock. The herd of beef
•animals numbering about
• fifty were driven back, home
by Elaine and Wally Pollock
John D. MacKay, and owner
John Parrish, and the help of
a couple of dogs.

for sow wearer plan
Decentber 1, 1982 is the
deadline for pork producers
• to sign up for period str of
• the sow wearer plan of the
Ontario farm income
stabil-
ization commission, it was
announced by the Ontario
• Ministry of Agriculture and
Food. •
The plan assures produc-
ers of supplementary pay-
ments, based on 95 per cent
of average market, prices
•over the last five years,in
any year of depressed prices.
The plan covers sows held
• on the farm and wearier pigs
• they produce and is open to
any Ontario pork producer
with a mininnim of four
sows. The maximum number
of sows eligible is 100 for a
• single proprietorship. 200 for
• n2rtnershio of two active
f.trAseq and 300 for multi -
farm operation.
Those already in the plan
ar required to register and
pay their fees by December
1. 1982. Registration forms
are automatically sent to
producers who were enroiled
in period five.
Pork producers who are
new applicants can join the
plan but would be eligible for-.
reduced benefits -- 30 per
cent less than those who
joined at the plan's inception
in April 1980- Beginning
pork producers may enter the
pita without penalty.
Participation is for 'six-
month periods. October
through March and April
through September., The
December 1„ 1982 deadline
covers the period October
1982 through March 1983.
