West Wawanosh township
council candidates
Bob Hallam
A life long resident of West Wawanosh
Township, Bob Hallam has decided it is his
turn to work for the community. He has
always taken an interest in township affairs
and says he isn't afraid to take issue. • He
comments he won't straddle the fence on an
issue and intends to keep a tight rein on the
money. •

• Joe Hickey
With 10 years previous experience on
council, Joe Hickey has decided to seek
another term because many municipalities
have a problem filling the slate for' an
election. Hickey enjoyed his association with
the people of West Wawanosh and he
believes an interest should be shown in
municipal' affairs.
During his 10 year stint on.council. Hickey
served on the Lucknow and District Fire
Board, the Lucknow Medial - Centre Board
and the West Wawanosh ,Township Recrea-
tion Committee. •
He sat on council during better economical
times when council acquired the money to
build a new township shed and purchase
new equipment. Now Hickey would like the
opportunity to serve when tough economic
times have created unemployment. '
• Hickey believes that the municipalities
have a role to play in creating jobs for the
unemployed in their jurisdiction.
The recent. provincial employment incent-
ive program provided funds . to hire the
unemployed to work on • projects which
upgraded municipal buildings. Hickey wants •
to ace the municipalities work with the
province to provide such programs in the
future.
There is work to be done in a township
such as cleaning out fence bottoms, cutting
grass and weeds which could tidy up the
appearance of the 'roadsides. At the same
time it could create work for the unemploy-
ed, says Hickey. Hickey iF looking forward to
A most convenient and
impressive way to send
your holiday greetings.
