Mrs, Pearl Congram and Mr.
Maurice Ivers of Dungannon.

day at the home of Mr. and
Mrhs. Bill Burt when 30

Boyle gathered at noon for a
,smorgasbord birthday . din-
ner. Bernice welcomed ev-
eryone and Grace Graham of

sing, after which everyone.

Jean Hodgins of Wingham
was chairlady and in her
'pleasing and capable manner
spoke so . kindly. of the
honoured guests and the five.
years that she spent in the
Boyle home while teaching in
Kinlough Public School, say-
ing
ay ing it was her pleasure to be
invited. She read a very
suitable poem on friends.
Maude Thompson of _Kin-
cardine gave a humorous -
reading and also told a joke.
Katherine Collins of Ripley
then showed pictures of Scot-
- land and England and a few

enjoyed. "
Joyce Hedley .read an ad-
dress on behalf of the gather-
ing and Mrs. Bert Nicholson
presented a beautiful
arrangement, and a wall
plaque andother gifts. Hap-
py Birthday was, sung.
Edna and May each ex-
pressed their sincere thanks
for all of the kindness of the
day in their honour, and the.
loving friendships shared,

Following the program two
lovely birthday cakes, made
and decorated, by . Marjorie
Thompson of Ripley, were
presented and lighted. They
were cut by Edna and May
and served with ice cream
and punch by the hostess and
neighbouring ladies.
Pictures were taken and a
most enjoyable day brought
to a close.

home to Fonthill after spend-
ing the week with her sister,

the church on Thursday ev-

Teeswater. Presbyterian,
Kinlough Anglican and Pent-
ecostal and Kinloss United
Churches were present.
The scripture and medita-
tion were . also given by Mrs.
Haldenby and prayer by •
Mrs. Tom MacDonald.
The Sunday School child-
ren sang two action' songs
under the direction of- Mr.
and Mrs. Bruce Bushell. The
offering was received by
Mrs. Don Robertson and
Mrs. Mex Percy.

Attend cross country meet

Brookside students com-
pleted against area schools at
the annual cross country race
held at Point ` Farms Prov-
incial Park on Friday, Octob-
er 22. The intermediate girls
and midget boys brought
home penants. Julie Pent-
land and Jeff Ireland receiv-
ed medallions. ,
On Wednesday, October
20 Jim French and Earl
Knickerbocker, majors in
English, came .to review the
Intermediate English course.
They came to the school to
determine the strengths and
weaknesses Of present read-
ing, writing, speaking, and
listening programs.
On Thursday, October 28
Mr. Liddle's class, Grade
six, will go on a field trip to.
the Ontario,Seed Plant and to
the Midhurst. Tree Nursery.
They will visit the Military
Museum and Camp C.F.Bor-
den.

three day seminar on Visual
Aids, held in Sudbury, Ont-
ario.
