St. Helens institute rummage sale is successful

St. Helens Women's
Institute held a . rummage
sale at thehall on Saturday.
Despite poor weather, it was
a good day..
Mr. and Mrs. John Morden
of St. Catherines were
Sunday visitors. with Mr. and
Mrs. John Siecker.
Get well wishes are ex-
tended
ztended to several area
residents who are in the
Wingham and District
Hospital,:. John Rutherford,
Tom Nicholson, Karen
Gaunt and Agnes Lyons. A
speedy recovery is hoped for
all.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Bill. McPherson on the
birth of their granddaughter
Janelle. Elizabeth Morrison.
Janellewas born on Friday,
October 15, in Calgary,
Alberta. Proud parents are
Mr. andMrs, Jim Morrison.
Great-grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon
MacPherson.

in the St. Helen's W.I. Hall
Thursday, ; October 7 at 2
p.m. with seventeen
members present.

Control Board (AECB) has
authorized a four percent
increase in reactor power at
all four of the . nuclear
reactors ' at ' Bruce "A"
generating station.
The increase will not affect
the.. maximumelectrical
output of the reactors
(750,000 kilowatts), but will.
allow production of steam
for the Bruce Heavy Water,
Plant while maintaining full •
electrical output.

On October 14, Trinity
U.C.W. met at the home of
Mrs. John Punter, with an
attendance of 18. The
meetingwas called to order
by the president, Mrs.., Ken
Alton, with a few words of
welcome and a .Thanksgiv-
ing verse.
Mrs. Don Hackett opened
the ' devotions I and led in
prayer. Mrs. William °Irvin
read the scripture and gave
a prayer. Mrs. Hackett gave
the meditation on
Thanksgiving. Mrs. Irvin led`
in prayer, assisted by
several other members.
The Roll Call was
answered with a Thanksgiv-
ing
hanksgiving Thought. Mrs. Jim
Hunter presented the Bible
Study, taken from the article
in the Observer . on
Evangelism & Social Action,
she wasassisted by "Mrs.
Tom Hehn. The president
led in prayer, and Mrs. Alex
Hackett had a . quiz on the
Thanksgiving Turkey.
Following ' I the business
pertion of the meeting, Mrs.
Hackett conducted another
contest Count Your Bless-
ings. The president closed
the meeting with prayer and
lunch was served by the
committee in charge.

fine which created a lot of
laughs. Winner of 1st prize

2nd prize Mrs. Ross
Errington for fancy
costume.
Mrs. Peter Chandler gave_
her report or. the Rally. she
attended on September 4.
The Rummage Sale is to be
held in the hall October 16
with members having a bake
table.
Minutes of Yesteryear
were given by Mrs. Gordon
McPherson. Mrs. Jim Ait-
chison gave a reading on
Threshing Grain years ago.
Beatrice McQuillan
prepared the topic, Winter
with the family and friends
and how they visited and
entertained,in years past.. It
was read by Mrs. Harold
Cooper. Current 'Events
were given by Mrs. Ernest
Gaunt.
The hostesses were Mrs.
Russel Phillips and Mrs. Bob
Markham who served a
lovely lunch.
St. Helen's U.C.W.,
St. Helen's U.C.W. met on
October 12, 1982 at Mrs. Don
Cameron's home.
Mrs. Frank McQuillin was
in charge of the worship. The
theme was "Thankfuhiess.",
The Scripture was read by
Mrs. McQuillan and was
followed by a sheet reading.
Mrs. McQuillin had a prayer.
and a reading, Thanksgiving
was read 'by Mrs. Tom Todd.
Mrs. Isobel Killer gave a
prayer of Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Gordon - McPherson
had the topic. She gave an
interesting and informative
talk, presenting an in-
troduction tothe study for
this year on the "Pacific
Way."
Mrs. Gordon McPherson
was in charge of the
business.
The meeting closed with a
bountiful lunch served by
Mrs. Eldon Miller.
Courtesy remarks were
given by Mrs. Isobel Mier.
