Goderich• man identifies steer Harold Johnstone of Goderich sent a letter to the Sentinel telling us that he correctly'. identified the steer shown in a Jamboree '83 picture published in the July 28 issue of the. paAccordln to Mr. Johnstone, e, the steer was owned by Charles ,Stewart .of Ashfield Townshipand herecalls that people would call on Mr. Stewart on Sunday afternoons and ask if, they .could see the steer. 'Mr. Stewart sold his . farm to John S. MacKay in 1956' who still farms there.' Following is Mr. Stewart's .obituary which Mr. Johnstone included in his.. letter. Charles Stewart . The death occurred of Charles Stewart, in Goderich, June 4, 1956 at the age of 93 years. . He wasthe son of the late David Stewart and Mary, MacLean .who came` from Scotland and settled on the farm just north of Kintail in 1842. Here, in a family. of nine childred, Charles was born and lived on°the same farm'throughout his whole life with the ,exception of a few months in hospital and a rest home. Throughout his life he enjoyed good health, full of vim and energy, a fine house numbers... Reeve George Joynt said -the ,1981.82 fiscal budget had already been set when the county was approached to. make a contribution to the costs of operating the °day centre, where Bruce County residents including residents from Lucknow, Teeswater, Culross and Kinloss Townships make use of the services available. He served as councillor for several years and as reeve in the years of the war, 1915 to 1917. As well as interest in civic affairs, he had the welfare of the com+ tunity and church at heart. The funeral service was held from4he home`of his nephew, Archie, MacMurchy, at which Rev. R. MacDonald paid fitting tribute. Interment took place in Kintail cemetery, Pallbearers were Colin MacGreg•' or, John MacKay, Hugh MacKenzie, Earl Howes, Gordon Drennan and Will Johnston. He is survived by one sister, r Mrs. Olive Finlayson, of Toronto, who was present, with members of her. family. Also present were many other friends and relatives, Mr. and Mrs, Bain . Stewart; Mrs. Rose, of London, the. Ferguson family. of Hamilton, the Dunbar family, of. Ethel, Rev. W.Mathe- son, of Chesley, Annie MacMurchy, of Goderich. The memory of Chas.
