Andrew of Edmonton are here for a month as Cecil is studying a course in Toronto and Mrs. DeBoer and, family are stay- hag with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John DeBoer. Mr. and. Mrs. Dawson Craig spent the weekend at their home here and on Sun- day evening called on Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. On Sunday the DeBoer relatives held a family reu- nion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim DeBoer where around 40 gathered to play games and visit. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw and family of Lon- don are holidaying this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott. Mr:and Mrs. Barry Elliott and family on Sunday held a barbecue where around 25 gathered for games and a visit. Mr. ; and Mrs. Hugh McMillan of Sarnia and Mrs. Isobel Tiffin ,were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. and Mrs. Cassie Mowbray. Mr. and Mrs.: Gary Rin tout, Corey and Kevin were • at Clinton on Friday evening where they celebrated her parents, Mr, and Mrs.. Joe Corey's 40th wedding • an- niversary. Along with her sister, they took the food and invited the neighbors in and gave the folks a real surprise celebration. Mrs.. Resolu- tions meeting • was held on Wednesday evening, July 14 in the Whitechurch Com- munity, Memorial Hall with hostess, Mrs. Wm. Rintoul, The president Mrs. Agnes . Farrier opened the meeting: The secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Russel McGuireread the minutes and gave the f ifiancial Statement. The Roll Call was answered by a penny a year of Motherhood. The motto, the past cannot be changed but the future is in our hands, was prepared by Mrs. Vic Emerson who was ill and given by Mrs. McGuire. Guest branches present were Teeswater, Maitland and Lucknow. Mrs. Johnston Conn in- troduced the guest speaker, Mary. Dawson, Warden of Warkworth Institution. With the use of slides she describ- ed the institution. There are around 400 inmates of which 70 are serving for murder. Each has a cell 6 x 10 feet holding a bed, chair, desk and toilet. They . are given. three meals a day, There is a woodworking shop,; welding shop, upholstery and bake shop. Radio -television and photography courses are. also taught. Mary was thanked by Mrs. Alan Falconer and presented with a Bruce County Tartan Tray. • . . Teeswater W.I. presented an entertainment number. Emily Kean of Lucknow gave a piano instrumental.
