Ron Stanley of ,Lucknow 'spent .his first
weekend at home since entering hospital . in
late March following an automobile ' aedd-
ant, Because of the serious back injuries. he
suffered in the accident, Ron has spent most
of the time hi hospital in .bed. •
His progress has been'slow but steady and.
he isnow able to sit ina wheelchair and; will
be coming home weekends to spend time
With his family.

A barn fire on a ' farm owned by Wes
Ritchie in Ashfield Township tit up the night
sky like a sunset on Sunday, evening about
11,30 pm, Lueknow firemen answered .the
call but the Sky was already red as- they left
the village. When they arrived they could do
little more than .watch that the high winds
did not spread the blaze to nearby buildings..

Tuesday the cause of the fire is unknown.
Some of last year's crop of hayremained in
the barn but the new hay had not b n
brought in from the field .yet, There w no
hydro in the barn and firenien do not believe
there was lightning the night of the fire.

Approximately 5,060. people with cars
bearing licence plates from Ohio; iowa;

Tractor Pull this past weekend.
Lucknow pullers, Art and Barb Helm and
Glen Porter did not do well at ,the weekend
pull. After working on one of The Noisy
Lady's engines until 3 a.m. Saturday
morning, it was discovered the engine had a
cracked block and"The Lady" was forced to
run in the pull with onlyone of her 454
Chevy etiginbs,
The • "Second Choice" 'faired as poor

Saturday when Barb Helm drove in the 7,000
modified class, The, gear was repaired in
•time for Art Helm to drive on Sunday in the
9,000 modified class, but. Second • Choice
suffered a damaged gear end 'in that pull.
Pete Grazier of Lucknow placed first in the
semi truck class on Saturday and stood a
good chance of placing first again on
Sunday, When rain spoiled the final pulls in

Dennis Perkins of Saline, Michigan with
his testi 454 Chev, "Farmer's Nightmare",
*took first in both the 7,000 and 9,000
modified classes.
The G & B Sales, Lucknow entry in the
Parri Stack Out of the Field class, driven by
'Henry Hendricks, placed first with . Larry
Pentland of Dungannon coming 'second and
Pied Phillips of Ashfield Township placing
fifth...
