I believe itis very im- portant to give every encour- agement possible to volun- teers, whose • work .is too often not. recognized. With- out volunteers our province. would be less human and sadder in spirit," said Paul- ine McGibbon, .patron .of . the Ontario Nursing Home Vol- teer Association.. Public edu- cation has also been one of the ONHA's prime concerns since. Ontario Nursing Home Week was first introduced. "It's" important that the public is knowledgeable ab- out the service provided by a nursing home. Nursing hom- es provide a community ser- vice and welcome public sup- port and involvement. Through community partici- pation,, a nursing home be- comes a centre of human activity 'and enhances the daily living of the nursing home residents. In commun- ities where there is partic- ipation, there is a greater understanding of nursing home care. As a result, everyone shares the benefits - residents, staff, volunteers, and the public," said Harvey Nightingale, Executive Dir- ector of the Ontario Nursing Home Association: Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 23, 1982—Page 4 Caravan Clothing held a fashion show at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home June 16.
