was in a car accident Tues-.
day afternoon in • Huron.
Township.;' Finlay received
:minor injuries, including.
whip lash. One woman was
seriously injured and is in a
London Hospital. A baby
and another woman were
slightly injured.
Mrs. Edna Culbert and
Mrs. Mayne Wilkins had a
very successful sale at the
home of Mayme Wilkins.
There were lots of plants,
baking, used clothing (nearly
new) and nick nacks sold.

County dairy princess speaks
to Kairshea women's institute

Women's Institute held their
Family and Consumer • AO
fairs meeting on May 20, at 8
p.m. at the home of Mrs.
Hank Hartemink, with the
president, Mrs. .Harold How-
ald. presiding.
Miss Diane Clarke, Bruce
County Dairy Princess of
Chesley, • was the ".guest
speaker. She was an enthus-
iastic', vibrant speaker and
gave the ladies a real insight
into the fun and work of
being a' Dairy Princess. She
has been active in 4-H :home-
making clubs as well as Calf
Clubs. She is busy doing
radio interviews, food pro-
motions, as well as speaking
to children about good food
habits and Canada's Food
Guide, She will be working
on a beef' farm as _herds -
person this summer, al-
though her first love is the
Holsteins. She will also be
• competing at the C.N.E. in
Toronto.' Diane read two
poems, Miracle Health Drug,
and No Occupation. She con-
ducted a quiz on Dairy Food,
with the winners receiving
milk hats. She was intro- •
duced by Mrs. Hank Harte -
mink and thanked by Mrs.
Don Matthews.

gave a good report of the
District Annual. She report-
ed that the Resolution con-
cerning
the lights at the
highways 86 and 4 was
sustained, but that everyone
should also write letters to
the Ministry of 'Tranpsor-
tation, Queen's Park, Toron-
to. Mrs. Farish Moffat re-
ported that the Wingham
W.I. and the Huron West
District had also supported
this resolution.
Mrs. Harold Campbell
gave the report of the lunch
at the District Annual, cater-
ed to by the Kairshea W.I.
There were 101 dinner tick-
ets sold.
Mrs. Karry Lavis read the
scripture. Invitation to a Tea
sponsored by the Ripley W.I.
on June 2, was received.
Mrs. Clarence. Ritchie
gave her report of the Of-
ficer's Conference at Water-
loo. She closed with, A
Recipe for the Kairshea W.I.
The roll call, Show or tell
about something from, anoth-
er country, brought out many
keepsakes from afar.
