Highway 21 S. Goderich
available, Both Sue and.
Robert were able to find, work
for three months during their
stay in England.
While travelling through
England and France, they
stayed in a van parking in
Caravan Parks similar to
Canada's trailer parks, In
Paris they parked their van
for the. Might near the base of
the Eiffel Tower, At night
you jut pull the curtains and
go to bed.
In Yugoslavia they travel-
led off the main highway and
came upon a tiny village of
cave dwellers, all dressed in
black, Many of the buildings
in Yugoslavia, East permany
and Czechoslovakia have
never been repaired since
World War II as the coun-
tries are very poor.
The stores have very few
items for sale and if you see
something you like, you just
grab it and hope it fits.
Military • manouevres and
helicopters flying overhead
are constant reminders of the
communist government&
which control these count-
ries.
Theft was a problem in
Italy. The Italian thieves are
not above stealing from your
van so Sue and Robert
• parked their van with two
others in a triangle with the
• doors facing, inward to pro-
• tect themselves.
• The roads and buildings
have not been rebuilt since
the earthquakes and long de-
tours are necessary to get
from one place to another,
Sue and Robert remember
they were not impressed with
Venice. It was smelly and
they were glad to move on,
Greece is a very poor,
desolate country and military
action is evident.
They travelled through
Austria to the Riviera in the
• south of France and on to
Denmark. Here they visited a
• Leggo factory where they
saw small scale models of
buildings built from leggo
blocks. •
A meal for four people cost
• $10 in Czechosolvakia and a
large bottle of wine was $1.
You are not allowed to take
any money out of the country
and as things are so cheap, it
was a problem to spend what
Czechsolvakian money you
had before leaving the coun-
try.
Italy his many villas. with
cobble '.stone streets which
stili, bear the marks of the
Roman chariot wheels.
Sue and Robert stayed in
Russia, for two weeks. They
tound clothing very even -
sive; a pair of panty hose cost
$13, a jacket which would sell
for $100 here was $430, and
an • average style pair, of
slacks cost $100. The average
wage is $380 a month,
A bus ticket for 6 cents
takes you all over the city but
Russians travel outside the
cities' is limited. Their.
underground stations , are
amazing.
While the tourist is allow-
ed to take pictures of the
tourist attractions, no pictur-
es of the military are permit-
ted. ••
In, Russia and other coni,
munist countries, pens and
pencils' are very expensive
and the people will ask for
them.
In the next. two months
before 'they return to New
Zealand, Sue and Robert
plan to travel across Canada
and then proceed down the
Pacifiecoast to San Francisco
and then home. . •
Excess humidity can cause, warping, rust and Mildew damage, cause windows
• and doors to stick .and basement pipes to drip. Without proper air circidation,• ”
damp, musty oilers may develop.•
Make better use of summer storage areas, basements, laundry rooms with an
Electrohome dehumidifier. An Electrohome , de-hunddifier win draw off much of
' this excess moisture hi the oh, eliminating many of these problems.
