Brucelea Hayed tea attracts 500
Over 500 visitors register-
, ed at the annual Spring Tea"
Craft and Bake Sale held at
Brucelea Haven on Thurs-
day, April 29.
The morning was devoted
exclusively to Senior Citizens
'and the handicapped- and
over 100 attendedbetween
10 a.m. and 12.30 noon. Bus
loads of residents came from
five area Homes for the
Aged: Lee Manor, Owen
• Sound; Gateway Haven,,
Wiarton; Grey Oven Lodge,
• Markdale; Dufferin Oaks,
• Shelburne and Huronview,
Clinton. Many .attended from
Saugeen Villa, Hanover, and
several "Meals on Wheels"
recipients were brought to
the Home by volunteers.
It was such a beautiful sun-
ny day that 15_ patients from
Bruce County Hospital,
mostly in wheelchairs also
enjoyed the outing. It was
indeed quite a sight to wit-
ness the parade of wheel-
chairs, manned by Hospital
• volunteers and 'Staff, winding
their way between the Hos-
pital and Brucelea Haven.
The seniors chatted and
visited with local residents,
'oviewed the crafts and numer-
ous displays and thoroughly
enjoyed their lunch in the
Tea Room, where they, were
• served by Brucelea's own
'dents Members of the
rest .
Residents' Council 'greeted
the visitors and acted as
• guides throughout • the
Home. •
At 2 p.m. the doors were
opened to the general public
and in a very short time
Brucelea's halls, auditorium,
craft' and tea rooms were a
beehive of activity. Plans are
already underway to enlarge
• the 'Tea Room facilities for
next year.

baked bread, prepared by
stiff members, disappeared
in no time as also writ the
case with the other home
baked goods. The response
to the request for baking
from members of the various
organizations. was tremen-
dous and the auxiliary wishes
to extend appreciation to all
who donated baking.
The beautiful displays. of
crafts, ceramks, floral ar-
rangements and speciality it-
ems in the auditorium were
enjoyed and admired by all.
The. Craft Room was filled
with "Treasures" for sale,
with' most everything from
books to clothing, and busi-
ness was very brisk.

stett Jewellers, Walkerton,
won by Mrs. Margaret Moy-
er, Mildmay; silver serving
tray 24", donated ,by Victor .

eavers plan busy June
Shirley and Ray Gilders_
spent Sunday with her fath-
er, George E. Colwell and

and • took them out to a
smorgasbord supper at the
• Bruce Inn, Kincardine.
• The Lucknow Beavers
have been a colony of very
'busy beavers' lately. Along
with their regular meetings,
some special events 'have
been held and are being
• planned for the near future.
• Recently, the Beavers visited
the Fire Hall, and were
shown the equipment there
by Fire Chief George Whitby
and fireman Evans Helm. In
• June, the Beavers group will
enjoy -an outing to the farm of
• Lloyd Graham, where the
plans include a campfire and
marshmallow roast. • They
will •also participate in . a
'Beaverie' at Point Farms
Provincial Park in June,
along with other Beavers
from the Saugeen West
District. ,
