Install Lucknow United minister as Beaver leader
..
The BeaversGroup is now
underway every Friday at 5
p.m. in the Fellowship Room
of Lucknow United Church.
Eighteen 5,, 6, and 7•year old
boys have registered in the
group. Leaders Warren and
Lynne McDougall were in-
stalled on February. 26 by
District Commissioner .Paul
Pick of Kincardine. The third
leader, David Cayley, will be
installed at a later date. The
Beaver Colony acknowledges
the groups .which have aided
them . financially in getting
the group started: the Luck-
now U.C.W., the Kinsmen,
the Lions, and the residents
of Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home. '
At the ;worship service on
February 14 at• Lucknow
United Church, the installa-
tion of new board members
took place. Installed on the
session for a 5 -year term
were Ron Alton, Donna
Crich, and Sadie MacMillan;
on the board of stewards for
a 5 -year term are David
Black and Ralph;, Morrison.
On the weekend of Febru-
ary 26 - 28, the CGIT group
hosted an exchange with the
CGIT and Explorer groups
from. St. James Untied

Amnesty international is a
worldwide .voluntary human
rights movement which is
independent .of any govern-
ment, political: faction • or
religious creed. It works for
the release of men ' and
women imprisoned anywhere
for their beliefs, colour, lang-
ilage, ethnic origin or reli-
gion, provided they have
neither used nor advocated
violence. These 'are termed
"'prisoners of confence".
An"Action group for Am-
nesty international is ,being
formed in Lucknow. Mem-
bers will meet .once a month
to write letters on behalf of
prisonersof conscience.

Church in Etobicoke. The
weekend ended with all the
girls, in uniform, at the
worship service on February
28. A soup and sandwich
lunch followed in the Fellow=
ship Room, sponsored by the
Youth Group.
A number, of women from
the Lucknow U.C.W. attend-
ed the Bruce Presbyterial
(U.C.W.) annual meeting on
Monday, March 1 in Harri-
Ston United Church. Guest
speakers were Nancy Hardy
and R. C. Plant, both of the
Committee on Education for
Mission and Stewardship at.'.
the national office ' of the
United Church of Canada.
The ladies reported a very
worthwhile and constructive
day of worship, study and
fellowship.'
It is hoped that an Action
Group for Amnesty Interna-
tional can be formed if there
is enough interest.
On' Sunday,' March 7, the
Canadian Bible Society rep-
resenttive for this area, the
Rev. D. L. Howlett of Lon-
don, conducted the worship
service in Rev. McDougall's
absence. He spoke of the
work of the Bible. Society
around the world, and had a
display . of the • Society's
books, pamphlets and other
materials.
The Youth Group, which is
a joint group of youth from
the Lucknow and South. Kin-
loss Presbyterian Churches
and Lucknow United Church,
has had a variety of activities
in February and March. Sev-
eral car loads travelled to
Hanover on February 21 to
see the movie, Joni. Later in
the month, the , United
Church group hosted a meet-
ing on the theme of, ' Self
Identify°, consisting of scrip-
ture readings, prayer, a film
strip called, Who Am I?, and
then contests and games. On
Saturday, March. 13, a togog-
anning party was held on the
farm of Ernest and Bonnie,
Ackert. The Youth Group e%
pressed its thanks , to. the
Ackerts for hosting this event
and for the `cook -out' which
followed..
