William Henry Gollan of
Bob Street, Lucknow
University Hospital,
on Sunday, January 31, 1962
4 in his 86th. year.
Bonn in England on Janu-
ary 23, 1897, he was a and of
the late Alex Gollan of .South
Kinloss.
He married Florence.
Thomson of Lucknow who
predeceased him.
He is survived . by three
daughters, Phylis, Mrs. Bill
Ryan, Goderich; Mae, Mrs.
Ron Glazier, Goderich and
Marg, Mrs. Carl MFClen-
aghan,Whitechurch.
He was predeceased by his
wife; a son, Lloyd; a daugh-
ter, Wilhemein, ' and a son,
Grant, just seven weeks
previously.
The funeral was held from
the MacKenzie and Mc-
Creath Funeral Home in
Lucknow on Wednesday,
February 3, 1982 at 2 p.m.
with Mr. Harold Bauer con-
ducting the service.
Flower bearers were
grandchildren, Judy Gollan
and Steve Cohan and great
dson, Wayne Gollan.
Pallbearers were sons -in-
, Bill Ryan, Ron Glazier.
Carl McCknaghan and. Har-
vey Taylor and grandsons.

Walter H. Redden
Walter H. Roulston, of the
second concession of Huron
Township, passed away in
St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don on Tuesday, February 2,
1982.
Walter was born on the
twelfth concession of Huron
Township March 28, 1896,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Johnston Roulston. As a two
year old lad the family moved'
to the second concession
where Walter resided all his
life.
He was the .last surviving
member of a family of eight,
William. T., Jennie (Mrs. R.
H. Solomon), Mamie (Mrs..
Cyril Campbell), Rev. Edgar,
Percy, Clifton and . 'Annie
(Mrs. Howard McGuire).
On March 22, 1928 at
Arkona, Ontario he was
united in. marriage to Cath-
erine MacDougall, who pre-
deceased him on February
15, 1981.
He is survived by one
daughter, Mary, Mrs. Robert
Orr, Kincardine Township,
and one son, Gordon, who
resides , on the family farm.
Also surviving are two
grandchildren, Dale and
Donna Lee Orr.
Funeral service was held
in Ripley at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home
on Friday, February 5, 1982.
Spring burial will be in the
family plot in Ripley Cem-
etery.

The St. Helens U.C.W.
met on February 9th at Isobel
Miller's home. The theme of
the worship service was
"Self Control".
Mrs., Helen Todd read the
scripture followed by'a medi-

Miller.
Mrs. Helen Todd had a
reading, Let the Sunshine In.
Miss Peggy Gordon gave the
topic ' entitled, We . Have
None Today.
Mrs. Gordon McPherson
was in charge of the busi
ness. Plans were ' made for
the March meeting.
The meeting closed with
prayer. Grace ' was sung and
a lovely lunch served by Mrs.
Todd and Miss Miller.

The February 5 meeting of
the ' Ripley Women's In-
stitute met at .Huron Villa.
Dessert and tea was served
by Mrs. Chappell and Mrs.
Nugent. The Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect were
repeated.. The . President
read Romans 15 and' then
welcomed all.
The Roll Call was "Bring a
homemade valentine to, be
given to the children's ward
at the hospital". These have
since been delivered to Kin-
cardine Hospital. '
It was decided to send a
member to the Officer's Con-
ference, someone who has
never attended,
The annual meeting will be
held Mar. 26 at the home of
Mrs, D. MacDonald. The
regular March meeting will
be held Mar, 4. A District
Director's meeting will be in
the United Church . Hall,
Ripley, Mar. 23.
Mrs. D. MacDonald
reported on the Tweedmuir
book and Mrs. MacKenzie
for the sick committee: The
nominating committee •will
be Mrs. W. Chappell and
Mrs. Frank Scott.
The program was in
charge of Mrs. H. Nugent,
convener for Education and
Cultural Activities. She
showed slides taken across
Canada from Alberta to the
Maritimes, an Indian Pow,
Wow at Manitoulin Island,
Ottawa, Quebec, ' Moosonee
and many pictures, taken at
Museums; ending with pic-
tures taken at the Ripley
Fall Fair in colour.
In closing she said "Each
one of us will leave a foot
print wherever we go".

held a snow -sculpturing con-
test on Feb. 12, . 1982. The

Ripley WMS study China
The February meeting of
the W.M.S.• 'of . Knox
Presbyterian Church in
Ripley was held at the home
of Mrs. Donal& Gosnell. The
president, Mrs. Frances
Nugent, opened the meeting
with a poem on the month of
February. The hymn `Fight
the good fight" was swag.
Mrs.. Minerva Stewart
read a passage. of Scripture
from Romans chapter eight.
This was • followed with
prayer by Mrs. Violet Mai-
tyn. Mrs. Hazel MacDonald
gave an : interesting talk on
China from the Glad Tidings
and other sources.
The roll call was answered
by twee members using a
verse or poem on love. There
were two visitors present.
The hymn "Stand up, Shand
iup
pffor Jesesus" was
sung.. Mrs.
Mary. F. MacDonald, ' the
secretary read the minutes
of the last meeting.. ' A short
business period was con-
ducted.
Mrs. Ella. MacPherson,
who is in charge of
Literature and Library had a
good book display. After
singing the hymn "God sees
the little Sparrow Fall", the
Lord's prayer was repeated
in unison.
