little to appease the antagonism directed towards him by his
counterparts in the farming industry.
At one point the federation of agriculture was calling for
his resignation. He didn't resign and he didn't come up with'
any program to resolve the issues faced by farmers.
Timbrell's appointment to this ministry, at his own
request, is an attempt to seek support, should he decide to
run for leadership of the Conservative party when Premier
William Davis decides to step down.
But Davis' appointment of Timbrell to the ministry
perhaps indicates the premier's concern for the industry and
the realization that something has to be done to rescue
agriculture. .
Timbrell is a high profile cabinet member and for once
agriculture should get the high profile' it, deserves in, .the
public's as well as the cabinet's attention and also in the
provincial budget.
