At one point the federation of agriculture was calling for his resignation. He didn't resign and he didn't come up with' any program to resolve the issues faced by farmers. Timbrell's appointment to this ministry, at his own request, is an attempt to seek support, should he decide to run for leadership of the Conservative party when Premier William Davis decides to step down. But Davis' appointment of Timbrell to the ministry perhaps indicates the premier's concern for the industry and the realization that something has to be done to rescue agriculture. . Timbrell is a high profile cabinet member and for once agriculture should get the high profile' it, deserves in, .the public's as well as the cabinet's attention and also in the provincial budget.
