Funeral was held
The funeral service for
Bert Irwin was held last
Thursday afternoon, June 18,
1981, at the MacKenzie Me-
Creath Funeral. Home in
Ripley with Rev. Jim
Bushell of St. Andrews
United Church officiating.
Interment followed in Ripley,
cemetery. On Wednesday
evening the Old Light Lodge
A.F. and. A.M. No. 184
(Lucknow Masons) helda
service at, the funeral home
on Wednesday evening.
Robert A. Irwin was born
on Friday June 17, 1904, on
the Fourth Concession west
ins Huron township. He died
in Kincardine and District
Hospital last Tuesday June
16 just the day before his 77th
birthday. He is survived by
his wife, the former Evelyn
Humphrey, one son; Doug of
Toronto, and two daughters
Sheila, Mrs.. Dan A. °Mac -
1 Donald of the 8th Concession
west in Huron township and
Phyllis, Mrs. Bruce Baker of
Magnetawan, Ontario and
nine grandchildren; also one
sister Kay ofz Western Can-.
ada, also nieces and
nephews..
Mr, and Mrs. Bert Irwin
retired a number of years
ago from the John -Shiells
farm on the Fourth Conces-
sion to the Dan Campbell
house on Huron or main
street south in Ripley. Bert
will be missed by neighbours
and people upstreet where
he had a friendly greeting
for all. ' Back in the early
twenties when every conces-
sion
ontesion in Huron township had
its broomball team and the
games were played in the old
Ripley Fall Fair hall south of
St. Andrews Church, Bert
was one of the best players in
this area. He is the last of the
three Irwin brothers to pass
away in less than a year,
starting with Lloyd at the
end of last September, then
Leonard just a few weeks
ago. They were predeceased
by their brother Steve a few
years ago. All had retired to
Ripley from farms on the 4th
of Hilton township.
