which was much enjoyed."
Lorne and HazelHackett
and Mac visited over the
weekend in Blenheim. On
Sunday..they attended, a
dinner . in honour" of her
parents', Glen and Vera
Campbell, for .the occasion of
their .40th wedding anniver-
sary.

tion at Jamaica, last week.

The second meeting of .the
Clover Valley Club was held
at the home of Mrs. Ken
•Elphick on February .7.
The president, Gayle Mac-

With the 4-H pledge and then
all members answered the
roll call which was to display
their. fabric and pattern.
A name was decided upon.
The club will be the Clover
Valley Whizz Kids and each
member isto bring a design
idea to' the next.meeting.
The secretary, •Elizabeth..
Wilkins, read the minutes of
the last meeting and they
were. signed. It was decided
that SOc will be collected
from each member for the"
covers of their books.
The group then pinfitted
their patterns and made .the
necessary alterations. The
leaders discussed Alterations
and Preshrinking and with
the help of two members
•
they demonstrated straight-
ening fabric.
The Clover Valley Whizz.
.Kids met for their third
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Charles Wilkins on' February
The president opened the
meeting, and all members
answered the roll call which
was "Name.a piece of sewing
equipment and its use".
A design was decided
upon for- the overs. The
treasurer reported that we
now have $5.25 in our
treasury The secretary read
the minutes of the last
meeting and they were adop-
ted, as read.
Mrs. Wilkins: discussed
cutting fabric.. The leaders
then discussed staystitching,
darts, gathering; seams and
seam finishes, and pressing
with the help of some of the
members.
The members each made a
sample and . . the meeting
closed with refre$hments.
Junior farmers
plan spring prom
The monthly meeting of
the *est Huron Junior Far-
mers was held an February 9
at Brookside School. The
meeting opened with all
members . singing the Junior
Farmer Song..
On Saturday, February 7,
Ripley Junior Farmers held a
broomball tournament in
Ripley. Variousclubs were
invited to participate. ate. ° West

Huron decided to enter a
mixed team. Withthe excel-
lent turn out of members on
Saturday, theywon the con-
solation prize and were pres-
ented the trophy at the dance
they held that night.
A very .interesting..and .:in-...
formative talk was given on
° energy conservation and new
energy sources by guest
speaker, Tony McQuail. He
-pointed out that the main
concern for energy should be
the supply of energy for
farms as well as new energy
supplies for theefuture.
February is definitely a
heart month because of both
Valentine's Da,y and Heart
Sunday. Again this year, the
club will be canvassing for
the Heart Fun. in Ashfield
township.
The activity books prepar-
ed by the Huron County
Junior Farmers with dates of
upcoming events and , mem-
. bers' names, etc. were hand-
ed out by Ralph Morrison to
those who wished to pur-
chase one.
The meeting ended with
recreation. •

. are Murray Irvin and Audre
Ritchie. The conference is
being held in Toronto from
March 27 to March 29.

the club Members will have a

The Club,has decided to
hold a card party againthis
year in March. during Junior
Farmer week. It will be held
at Brookside Public School on
Wednesday, March 25.
Joanne Pentland gave a
report on preparations for
the spring formal. on April
25, in Lucknow. The theme is
to be Spring , Fantasy with
proceeds going to the Luck -
now Medical Centre. Prep-
arations for decorations and
food are underway.
