The. significant : change g from the former name to the current name is the dropping -of the world crippled "There. has been growing concern about retaining a name which appeared to attach a label to the disabled individual," said Ian Bain., Executive Director of the Society, ''`Parents of disabled children• and older disabled persons have expressed their regret at our retention of the l 'crippled'. wor,d p .- "The to. Society's decision" Y .., change its public name was. not made lightly," according to Bain. • "With a record -of nearly 60 years' service to the families of disabled child=; ren' in Ontario, the dropping of a familiar name• was -of considerable concern but the language dynamic English is and a word which was'readil , acceptable in. the past; may Y now have unpleasant conno- tations," Bain said. The snow which was about two feet ..deep was one h4.jge mirror. The ram had froen on the =: snow =to make a brittle mirror on the 'snow.' The ` sky was a light bide: turning darker as the sun set. ."There. wasn't a cloud to be seen in the " clear blue sky. The firy ball of sun could be or; seen through the trees. On 'the horizon the redish orange = .. glow- could be seen as it was darker, but still'. ,glowing like the'' teals in a furnace. . The sun and thesky.were being'reflected o . the mirror • n of snow. It was as clear as looking at your reflection in a clear pond. The sun "-was reflected on the aluminum roof of, the barn making it: hard.to:look at because of the strain on your, eyes. Over' all it was one'beauti- ful sight to see. The scene looked almost as if it wasn't' real. The picture :seen ^'and' = the fresh crisp air was a sight that was never to be forgot- ten 1~ ten and probably never to be seen again in a life time.
