Cliristrnas verses recited
The United Church Women held their
meeting Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs. Agnes
Farrier:
Secretary Mrs. Russel Chapman read
the minutes and called the roll which was
answered by eight members with a
Christmas verse. The offering and Least'
Coin were received. Mrs. Farrier gave the
nieditation and led in prayer. All sang
"Away in a Manger". .
Donations were sent to Alma College,
Fred Victor Mission, Five Oaks and United
Church Resource Centre. •
Mrs. Sleightholm read Luke 2: 1.-20 and
Matthew 1: 1-12. Mrs. Farrier and Mrs.
Tiffin and Mrs. Sleightholm told the story •
Of the first Christman. All sang several
carols. Mrs. Farrier, Mrs. Tiffin and Mrs.
Sleightholm led in prayer. All sang "Joy to
the World". A story from the Record was
played on tape:.
Mrs. Sleightholm thanked all for taking
part and the hostess Mrs. Farrier.
The exchange of gifts 'was , held and the
birthday tea followed.

Congratulations to John Scheeringa and
Kathy Purdon. who were married in
Chalmers Presbyterian Church on Dec. 7
by Rev. Paul Mills. The dinner was held at
the Lucknow. Community Centre where the
reception was also. held.

On Dec. 7 Bill Uuldriks' son John and his
' son put up a color TV aerial for Bill.

es.

Hospital . were Mrs. Dave Henderson of

Norma Rintoul went on the bus from
Wingham to Toronto to the Peoples Church
to see The Living Christmas Tree, which
they enjoyed very much.
Mrs. Joe .Tiffin recently had the mis-
fortune to fall on ice and break her right
arm above the wrist. She had a cast -put on.
and is resting at home. The community
wishes • her a speedy recovery, without too
much pain. .

On Nov. 30 a Christmas . Fashion Fair
was . held . in Whitechurch Community
Memorial Hall. Sweaters and children's
clothing were , on display by Lorraine
Foxton. Designs by Isobel Burke were
shown from 10 to 6. A make up demon-
stration was also on view.
Red. George Ball of Milverton was in the
village on .Nov. 29 visiting some of his
former congregation.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin left on a tour to
Niagara Falls on Saturday morning to view
the lights and program in the states. They
returned Dec.. 1 night. .
Bill Bushell of Teeswater visited on Nov.
30 with Mr: and Mrs. Victor Emerson and
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Chapman.
Mr. and Mrs. Relison Falconer of Sarnia
brought Mrs. Cassie Mowbray home on
Friday and they returned on Saturday.
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Mrs. Isabel
Tiffin of Lucknow were Saturday afternoon
callers on Mr. and Mrs. Victor . Emerson.
The village is . really •snowed in this
morning, Dec. 2. Cars have been going on
the highway cleared with the snow. plough.
The snow shovels will have to out to clear
the door steps. .

Mrs. Bill Purdon were Mrs. Barbara
Carey, Kitchener and Margaret Spearin of
New Hamburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott. spent three
days at the first of the week attending the
Federation of Agriculture meeting in
Toronto. '
4-H achievement night was held in
Ripley Nov. 28 where Kim Laidlaw
received her sixth projectpin and Cathy
Dow received the award of a desk set for 12
projects. Their. book's were all passed.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw, Jason and
Michelle of Dorchester, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and Mr.
and Mrs. Elroy' Laidlaw.
Mrs. Norma Rintoul visited Sunday last
to, Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Oberholtzer, Waterloo and while there
celebrated Julie's 10th birthdq. Also
present were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Olberholt-
zer and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell;
and Heather from Richmond Hill.
