Former Ashfield farmer dies'
Gordon Wesley Barger
On Nov. 6, 1985, Gordon Wesley Barger
died in Wingham and District llospital at
the age of 80 ;ears.
He was an Ashfield Township farmer
who retired in 1969 and moved to
Lucknow. He was born in Vaughn Town-
ship in York County on June 21, 1905. His
father, John Barger and his mother
Margaret (Glazier) were also Lucknow.
residents.
, He married Catherine Glazier of Toronto
on Dec. 27, 1938, .who survives.
Also surviving are five sons. and two
daughters, Gordon and Marylou, Ashfield
Township; Bill and ' Anna; Hanover; Ken
and Thea, Toronto; Joan Purdy, Dublin;
Herb and Rosalene, Hanover; Mary and
`Ron Kieffer, Bluevale; Richard and Shar-
on, Kincardine; and '18 grandchildren.
Sister Pearl Bradley, Toronto, also surviv-
es.
He was predeceased by one grandchild,
one daughter-in-law, two sisters and three
brothers. •
The funeralservice was held Nov. 9 with
Reverend. Allison Ramsay presiding. Flow-
er bearers were Lisa, Michele, Bob and
Anna May Barger, Kirk Purdy and Melissa
Kieffer, all grandchildren. Pallbearers
were sons Gordon Junior, Bill, Ken, Herb
and Richard and son-in-law Ronald Kief-
fer. Interment at Greenhill Cemetery.

Edward, Robert; McQuillan
• Edward Robert McQuillin passed away
in Wingham and District Hospital on Nov.
8, 1985 after, a lengthy illness.
He was the eldest son of Edward and
Jennie McQuillin, of West Wawanosh
Township. He attended. St. Helens school
after which he took up farming on Highway
86 east of Lucknow where he farmed for
many years. He . was also employed with
Ontario Department . of Highway as a
driver.
In .1935 he married Jean Grant of
Paisley. They had one sbn born in 1943. On'
June 22, 1985 they quietly observed their
50 years of marriage in Wingham Hospital
where Edwas a patient. They moved to
Lucknowin 1979 where, they lived quietly
until Ed had a stroke in 1984. He was
hospitalized until his death in 1985.
Ed was a member of St. Peter's Anglican'
Church, Lucknow.
He was predeceased by his parents and
one sister Winnifred (Mrs. Harold Daw-
son). Surviving are his wife Jean, 'son
Grant and one brother Evan of Lucknow.
Funeral service was conducted on Nov.
11' by Rev. Merelyn Letson of St. Peter's
Anglican Church. Interment ini Greenhill
