President Mrs. Currie welcomed all and gave a poem "Why wear a poppy?" Mrs. Norma Rintoul convened the meeting. The roll call was. answered by naming a leader of another country. Jean McGuire gave a report on the rally held at Elmwood. Mrs. Bill Rintoul gave a poem'"Why Remember?" ' • Norma introduced guest speaker Mrs. Pat Livingston, general manager of the Lucknow . Sentinel. -She told how the Sentinel is published, which was ". very interesting. It was a video slide presenta- tion. Thanks . was given by Mrs: Russel McGuire. The motto "World Affairs are our, own affairs" was given by Mrs. Elgin Johnston. When -we hear of a disaster in the far corners of the world we never realize how it will affect our cogntry or our lives. As one Agriculture commentator observed, "If Uncle Sam sneezes, farmers. in Canada catch a cold too or worse." Mr. and Mrs. Russel Chapman, Miss Mildred McClenaghan and John MacKin- non were in London on Wednesday due to eye trouble. . Wayne . Farrier of Guelph visited last week with his mother, Mrs. Garnet Farrier. Mr: and Mrs. Eldon Emerson, Sharon and Brenda arrived Saturday afternoon • from St. Catharines to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. At 8 p.m. they met the bus in Wingham on which Miss Darlene• Emerson arrived from St. Thomas where she had been visiting. • On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson attended a 45th wedding. anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Norman MacDonald at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kirkland. ••Residents visit pitient Allan and Violet. Ritchie visited with her, sister Annie and Bill Duffle of Hamilton for two days last week. Annie is a patient at Henderson ;Hospital: Tom and Delores Culbert accompanied them. Bill and Joanne Wilkins had the misfor- tune to lose their barn by fire on Nov. 10 at noon. They were able to get most of the. livestock out. Sunday visitors with Winnie Campbell were her daughter Gertie and Joe Fritzley and boys, of Goderich: • Trinity UCW report On Nov. 14, 21 ladies met at the home of Mrs. Cora Cranston for the regular meeting of Trinity UCW. President' Mrs. D. A. Hackett called the meeting to order with a short verse and welcomed everyone. Mrs:. Warren Zinn opened the devotions with Remembrance Day thoughts, and Mrs. Frank Alton led in prayer. All sang the hymn "Land of Our Birth". Mrs: Alton read the scripture from Samuel 2, and Mrs. Zinn gave the meditation. Mrs. /Alton , closed the devotions witha short prayer and all joined in singing "0 Valiant Hearts". The rollcall was answered with suggestions for UCW programs. Mrs. Gary' Richardson gave a Remembrance Day reading . and a short prayer. The Bible study was led by Mrs. Bob Roberts, taken from Matthew .16, asking the question, ' "How did the different people of that time view Jesus, when he was' here on earth?" The president -led in prayer.
