The Lucknow Sentinel, 1985-11-20, Page 9Wreaths placed in Floiyrood The Remembrance Day Service was held on Nov._ 11 at the Holyrood hall sponsored by the Holyrood Women's Institute President Mrs. Charles Murray, was in the chair and extended . a welcome to all present. The opening hymn was "0 God of Love, 0 King of Peace", with Edna Boyle pianist, Mrs. Cliff Roulston placed the Kinloss Township wreath and the wreath from Kinloss Central School at Holyrood. was placed by Tammy Rolle. The two( minutes silence was observed followed by the singing og-':O Canada". Mrs. HaroldSmith gave .a reading on Remembrance Day. Pupils from Grades 3,0 4, and 5 of Kinloss. Central School favored with two songs accompanied by Marilyn Murray. / Kinloss Reeve Barry Johnston brought greetings, and congratulated the Women's Institute for arranging a service .each year. Mrs. Bruce Bushell •and: Mrs. William MacPherson sang' a duet. Mrs. Frank Maulden introduced guest speaker Rever- end Robert Shaw of the Teeswater and Kinlough Presbyterian Churches, who gave an inspiring address.' He read a Scripture portion and led in prayer. Mrs. William MacPherson thanked the speaker and presented him with a gift on behalf of the institute. Ladies from Whitechurch, Mrs. Russell Ross, Mrs. Dave Gibb, Mrs. Wardrop,/ Mrs. Bill . Gibson, accompanied by Mrs. Agnes Farrier, sang two ' lovely hymns. Mrs. Agnes Hodgins gave a suitable reading. The closing hymn was "0 God our / help in ages past". People report Welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murray who have moved from the Purple Grove area to their home on concession 10. Mrs. Jean .Hodgins and Miss Norma Coutts of Wingham visited on Nov. 14 with Edna and May .Boyle and enjoyed 'the afternoon at the church fellowship meeting and bazaar. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lickers of London spent the weekend here with Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen. On Nov. 11 Pastor and Mrs. Christensen motored to Montreal to visit his mother who will return home with them for a visit before she goes to her daughter's home in London for the winter months. Mr. and 'Mrs. Mac McDonald of Kincar- dine and Mrs. Bert Thompson .of Tees - water visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald. ACW meeting November 14 was a special day for the Anglican Church Women when they wel- comed friends and neighbours to their annual Friendship meeting and bazaar which they . look . forward to each year. ' She invited everyone to see the lovely homemade baking and hand made articles as well as garden produce. The Room 4 Alphabet has lots of book activities ' and reading going on! This week Marion Doucette visited the class to teach how to make Gobbly. Gook puppets to go with the Liza Lou book.' Group takes in -Royal WinterFair Cletus Dalton 'and Gerry Logtenberg of Ashfield Township and John Sunckell, of New Zealand, staying with the Logtenberg family on a y4pung farmers exchange, were guests of Ken Alton on Nov. 12. The group went to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto where all enjoyed exhibits. ' Happy birthday to Duncan C. Allan who turned 80'years old. Duncan celebrated his birthday AA the home of Jean and 'Bob Simpson of Kintail. Dinner guests were Donald. and Edith Simpson, Jack and Doris Allan of Camlachie.
