"They say a change is. as good as a T T T TT S

rest," said Heather Dauphin of, the
opening of Heather's Hairstyles in Dun-
gannon. She used the old saying as a
reason to open her one room shop in the
back of Sherwood's store, as she sat is
the swivel ' chair usually reserved for
customers.
"My kids' are all in school now and I
wanted a change. 'I didn't think I could
work for anyone, else. After working for,
nine years by myself, I didn't. think I
could take orders from anyone else,"
she said smiling with her sister, Sue ,
Brown laughing.' ,
Heather, started in the business 11
years • ago after )earning her trade in
London at the Ivan R. Sales school,
though, "I think it's gone now.
She returned north and worked in
Kincardine, Goderich; Mitchell and in
her' first year of marriage, worked in
Glencoe before she and her husband
moved to this area.. '
At their Ripley home, Heatherset up
her first shop and after the Dauphins
moved to their present home, she re-
assembled everything. ' /
The shop's opening on Nov. 5 was a
success and she was pleased with the
turnout of about 30 people stopping by
to welcome the business -woman.
In 'the manner typical of. the area,
some of the many flowers she received
were from local businesses such as
Sherwood's, Dawson's and de Bruyn's
° who own the village's garage.
Although many of her forrher custom-
ers are going to make the drive to have
their appointments at the riew shop,
Heather said some are happy she has
reserved Wednesday for: working at
home. Her other hours are Tuesday and
Friday, 9 - 6 Thursday 9 - 9 and
Saturdays 9 till noon. Heather willdo
both men and women's hair.
