Midgets win
but start shakey
The Lucknow Midgets got off to a shaky
start with a home: ice victory over Harriston
on Monday night. As expected, the team
played fair defense, allowing only two
goals against, but were surprising around
the net as they managed to. put 'eight
behind the Harriston netminders.
Brad Priestap scored Lucknow's first of
the season from Gary Forster and Jeff
Walden about five minutes into the game.
Harriston tied the score about five minutes
later on a power play but that was as close
• at they could get. Lucknow, with aggres-
sive forechecking, scored six in a row to put
the game out of reach. Chris Irwin got it
going, on a play from Steve Van Osch, then
Van Osch scored an unassisted marker.
Jeff Gibson notched the fourth from Irwin
and Scott Hackett netted The fifth from
Gibson. John Vandervelde flipped home
the sixth from Steve de Jong and de Jong
scored the picture goal of the game from
Van Osch. Although Harriston managed
gleir second tally with about seven minutes
left in the game there was never any doubt
and a Lucknow goal by Brad Priestap from
Walden sealed the victory.• •
While this game goes in the book as an 8"
- 2 win, it was not the crisp passing attack
that has been the trademark of this team.
However,. it is early' in the season and
penalties did interrupt the flow of the
game. Perhaps we will see the passing next
Monday night - a home •stand against
Howick Wallace. •
