Students have Hallowe'en parties and hotdog days BROOKSIDE By Madonna Bradley, Jennifer Dalton and Bev Aitchison Grade 3, Room 10 had a hot dog luncheon with special treats. They also went to a Hallowe'en, party in the gym on Thursday. On Oct. 24, Rooms T and 9° visited the •Wawanosh Conservation Authority, They enjoyed the program "Autumn Walk - Auturnn Talk". The students observed examples of water erosion and some measures which are all being- taken to prevent erosion. For lunch on Thursday Miss Jewitt's Grade 2 class enjoyed hot dogs provided by Miss Jewitt and treatsrought from home by the students. W Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 class prepared a choral reading called `t lallowe'en Night" and -preformed it in the ym for their Grade 1 partners from Mrs. Young's class. Christopher MacDonald directed the group. Darryl Gibson did the special light- ing effects and Lisa Cairncross and Jeffery Pentland took /solo sp aking parts. - On Friday Kinderga n 1 had a Hallow- e'en party and a 'cos ume parade. The Kindergartens also made Jack O'Lanters on Friday. - , The Room 4 Alpha et had 'a spooky Hallowe'en week. There were five witches . who helped make Witches' Manuals, and mothers helped carve jack -o -lanterns. Mrs. Puddy taught the cl ss how to make - strange and wonderf . string paintings. The class also' had a gi spider web in .the room . filled with creep spiders! Oct. 31 sawlots• 04 activities for the students. During noo hour' there was a dance for Grades 4 - 8:.'he winners of the costume contest are: Grade 5, Mike Cere, Freddie McCabe, Rosalind Jervis, Christ- ina Todd, Barb Nivins; Grade 6: Joel Wright, Robert Ireland, . Tim McNee, Warren Andrew; Grade 7 winners were: Kevin Cook, Adrian Rau, Jason Cameron and in Grade 8: Madonna Bradley, Bobbie Anne Menary, Tanya Turner and Peter Hooftman. In the afternoon there • was a ' costume party for Kindergarten to Grade 4. The categories were spookiest, funniest, oddest and most colorful outfits: In Kindergarten winners were Jacquie Pentland, Jason Walden, Barrett Glousher and Lindsay Williams.. Winners from Grade 1 Room 1 were Scott Richardson, J. J. Humphrey, Angela. MacDonald and Drew Black. Grade '1, Room '5 winners were Adam Sinclair, Billy Tucker, Cherianne D'Aoust and Melissa Snowden.. ' • ' From Grade 2, Room 3 the winners were Jennifer Storey, Debbie Ross, Mike Dau- phin and Kevin Rintoul. Winners .from Grade 2,Room 4 were Danny Wylds, Colin Becker, Chris Curran and Tammy Upthegrove. Grade. 3, Room 10 winners were Charity Newhook, Richard Sinclair,Melissa Mac- Lennan and Jeff Taylor.' Winners from, Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 3-4 Class were Robyn Dawson; Jeff Brindley,' Sara Dauphin and Amanda Todd and in Mrs. Graham's Grade 4 class the winners were Tanya Maclnnes,, Kerri Snowden, Misti Humphrey and Doug Culbert. The students in Grade 1, Room 5 have been 'busy this past week doing lots and lots of Hallowe'en activities. On .Hallow- e'en there was a great party and students even received a present from Wendy, the Witch. swa• y barbecue heid at Hen4icks family home Willy ' Hendriks and family had a barbecue on Sunday and all friends and neighbours enjoyed the afternoon. Every- one wishes Willy a steady recovery. • The community welcpmes Margie Fer- guson and her three children Joan, Glen and Nathan to Kintail. The children will be attending Brookside Public School. • Trick or treateis were out in force on Hallowe'en.
