Trinity UCW group
Trinity 'United Church Women held their
Thanksgiving meeting at the home of Mrs.
William. Andrew Jr. with an attendance of
/ 19 members and four visitors. Mrs, D. A.
Hackett opened with a poem -Thanksgiv-
ing Thought".
Mrs. Tom Helm read the Scripture and
gave the meditation on Thanksgiving. Two.
hymns, "Come Thee •Thankful" and
"Plough the Fields ,and Scatter" were
sung. Mrs. John Hunter read two poems
"God Goes on Strike" and "Thoughtful
Thanksgiving".
Several piano selection were played by
Mrs: Douglas Raynard.
The roll call was answered with what
each member was thankful for, then Mrs.
Hackett, led in prayer.
Mrs. Jim Hunter introduced .the guest
speaker, Mrs. Donald'. Bell, who spoke on
farm safety. She teaches the subject in
different schools to varying age groups.
Also, a film was shown on tractor safety
rules and the accidents that may occur 9jf
the rules are not followed. Mrs. Clifford
Kilpatrick presented Mrs. Bell with a gift.
The service of the Least Coin , was
observed. Mrs. Hackett reported on the
Fall rally held in Holmesville.
Invitations were read from the Nile
United Church bazaar on Oct. 23 and the
Thankoffering meeting at Ashfield Presby-
terian Church on Oct. 20.
• Plans were made to pack a bale in the
near future. Trinity UCW members were
asked to cater to the Legion banquet.
Hymn 586 closed the meeting and the
Trinity 4-11 club girls served lunch with a
variety of homemade biscuits and cakes. kes.

John Henry [Jack} Clements •
John Henry (Jack) . Clements, 75, of
Goderich, formerly of Nile, died Thursday,
Oct. 10, 1985 at the Alexandra Marine and.
General Hospital. .
The son of the late Harry Clements and'
the former Mary Gardiner, he ,was born
Feb. 11, 1910 in Toronto. He was a farmer in
Colborne Township.
Surviving are • 'his wife, the former
Dorothy Steels; children Betty arid her hus-
band Avard' (Eric) Miller, Harry.: and his
wife. Le nore., all of Nile, Ken, at home,
Dorothy Brindley and Jim Martin and Lloyd
Walff, all of Goderich, eight grandchildren,
one sister Betty, Mrs. William Reid, of
Saltford and three brothers Bob, of British
Columbia, Albert (Bud), of Meaford and
Bill, of Saltford.
He was predeceased by his first wife,
Mildred Powell, his parents and his step-
mother Eva Clements.
Funeral services were held Monday,. Oct.
14 at McCallum Funeral. Home with Rev.
G.L. Royal, of, Knox Presbyterian Church
fi officiating. Interment Colborne Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Doug Young, Earl,
Williams, Elwin Sillib,"Bill Melick, Charles
Johnston and Delmar Sproul. Flower
bearers were grandsons 'Jack Miller, Mike
Miller, Ron Clements, Chris Clements,
Stephen Brindley and John Paul Austin.
Group discussion
in UCW meeting.
There was good .attendance at the home
of Gloria Pearson for the Dungannon UCW
meeting. Nora Saunders took the Bible
study entitled 'The Purpose" followed by
a Thanksgiving Prayer. Then.a reading call •
"Activity For The Group" was given with
group discussion following.
• The program was very capably taken by
Roberta Lindskill who told the story. of Ira
Stanfield in song and .story form. Tinie.
Logtenberg assisted with the solo parts.
The rollcall was answered with a Thanks-
giving recipe. The feature given by Doris
Hodges entitled "Desiderada" was very
interesting and meaningful. The United
Church Observer should be ordered now
from Bessie McNee for 1986. The hostess
and all who took part were thanked by the
president • and a lunch and, social time
followed..
DRENNAN - Leroy and Annette (Elphick)

Preston Lincoln Clifford Drennan, on
October 12, 1985 at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, weighing 5 lbs. 15 oz. He is a wee •
