Living under a repressive government
The October meeting of the U.C.W. was
held at the home of Mildred McClenaghan
on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. Alice Moore opened the
meeting with prayer. All sang Come ye
thankful people, • come.
Mrs. Evelyn Gibb read an article of the
hardships of people living in Chile under
the most repressive government they have
ever had. Alice Moore told a story of a
somewhat eccentric Victor in autumn of
1843. He decorated the church with fruit
and vegetables and"told the congregation
to give thanks. The idea soon caught, on
and in a few years the Harvest Festival was
among the most popular service.
The rollcall was . answered by six
members and two visitors by a Bible verse
with Law.
