Mrs. Rutherford was bom to William
MacPherson and Isabel W ebb on Oct. 5,.
1895, .the only daughter 'm a family of
four, of which she is the last surviving
, member.
She and her husband, William Ruth-.
erford•; had four sons, Hugh, Grant,
Mac (deceased in 1949) and John. Her.
husband .died. in 1971. There are six
grandchildren and three great grand-
children.
She is ` a member of many organiza-

generously of her • talents, of music,
painting, and needlework.
Mrs. Rutherford maintains an apart-
ment in the village and still passes her
driving licence tests each year. Last
year, for several weeks, she displayed
her bowling skills by capturing the top
bowler's spot in the Town and Country
Bowling League. . • •

Wingham Graduate Nurses grant
;50 before dissolution
Members of the Auxiliary to the W Ing-
ham and District Hospital dealt .primarily
with matters of current business at their
September 23 meeting. President Marilyn
Wood called on. Conference Convener
Noreen Gnay to report on final plans for the
Fall Conference of Region 2 of the Hospital
Awiiliaries Association of Ontario which
will be held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian,
Church, Wingham, on Monday, September
30. It was reported that a donation of $50
has been received from the Wingham
Graduate Nurses, a group which has
decided to disband after meeting annually
for 35 years: .
Membership Secretary Jan Heinmiller
reported a growing membership list, and
Mrs. Wood presented the new auxiliary
newsletter throughwhich it is planned to
keep members informed of the group's
activities. • Hospital bridge will start in
November, and Convener Lorna Stuart,
392-6980, would like to hear from anyone
who wishes- to support the awljliary
through this activity. To provideflexibility
a minimum fee of $6 per table was adopted
for the coming season..
'The fall rummage sale date is. October
18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will be
working at the Wingham Armouries from 9
a.m. to 8 p.m, on October 17, to receive,
sort and arrange donations. At 3 p.m. on
Friday, Goodwill Industries of London will
pick up all unsold items and take them to
their plant where handicapped workers will
prepare them for sale in Goodwill stores.
This will eliminate waste of any unsold
donations.
The members voted to send two
delegates to the Hospital Auxiliaries
'Association of Ontario convention in
Toronto,. December 1- 3. The next meeting
will be held on November 25. Mr. Don
Newson, Hospital Pharmacist, will speak
with particular reference to calcium
requirements and the causes of and safe-
guards against osteoporosis. At this
meeting there will be a shower of articles
suitable for sale in the gift shop.
Following the conclusion of business,
Mr. Gordon Baxter of the hospital staff
showed the auxiliary members the hospital
auxiliary room in the new building. He also
showed them. through the new wing which ..
is being • readied for opening on November
2. The members were very much impres-
sed by the well planned features of the new
addition.
,New neighbours welcomed
On Oct. 6; Mrs. Bernadine Kinney held
an open house for neighbours to come and
welcome ,Mr. and Mrs. Ian Keuls to our
community., They 'are the new owners of
Sullivan's Restaurant. Everyone • enjoyed
coffee and sweets. Once again, welcome
Ian and. Toni Keuls.
A stag and doe was held for Ann
Drennan and Larry. Johnson Sept. 28.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Kuik (Bonnie Sinnett) on their marriage
that,took place on Oct. 5. A large crowd
attended their reception at the Lacknow
Community Centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim O'Connor of. Pickering
visited with the/ Dalton families last
Sunday.
A shower was held for Ann Drennan on
Oct. 1; at . St. Joseph's, Kingsbridge.
