To commemorate the occasion, 68 special guests, friends and members.. enjoyed a lovely lunch prepared and served by the Donnybrook U.C.W. ladies: President Mrs. Luba Strutton chaired the proceedings and welcomed everyone. Head table guests, who also brought , greetingsfrom their various departments, included Mrs..Roberta Templeman, board - director FW 10, Mrs. Ibis Elliott, president of Huron West District, Mrs. Marie Johnston; secretary of FW IO, guest speaker and Mrs. Jane Muegge of Rural Organizations and Services branch of Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. London area president, Mrs. Clarence Lewis was unable to be present, but sent greetings and congratulations. Mrs. Mur- iel uriel Moffat read congratulatory messages from MPP Murray Elston and several: of Elie WI branches.• Long tune member Miss, Beatrice McQuillin put the anniversary cake, which had been made and decorated in WI colours by president Mrs. Luba Strutton. • Mrs. Helen Todd read a history of the branch, which had.been compiled by Mrs. Jenny. McPherson. tes anniversary Past presidents and,secretary-treasurers of the bralich were introducedby. Mrs.. •.Edith Cooper. She also• made special mention of a past president of both branch and district, Mrs. • Annie Gaunt, who had passed away since .the 75th anniversary. Guest speaker, Mrs. Marcie Johnston of Listowel, spoke of the important role of WI in keeping communities together. She also said that the WI movement is a strong force - women in action and young in spirit. Age is a state of mind, she told the group.. Marion Raynard entertained with a beautiful solo and Louise and Elroy Laid- law gave selections on the piano and violin. An anniversary skit was delightfully presented by Mrs. Celia Aitchison and Mrs. Elaine Errington. Several members heard their names mentioned. The final item on the program was a lively sing song led by the branch members with Norma Raynard at the piano. Mrs. Beth Aitchison gave the courtesy remarks and also made mention of two potted plants presented for the occasion by Mrs. Grace Gammie and Mrs.. Norma Raynard and were to be given to former members Mrs. Tillie Gaunt and Mrs. Murray.
