On Oct. 6 at the community, church
service at the'United Church, Rev. Wallace
Howlett, district secretary of the Canadian
Bible Society in London, had .charge of the
day. He based his sermon on the services,
which the Bible Society provided for the
churches and mission work
Sid Paine who visited many friends here
has given up his apartment at Stroud,
Ontario. and on Oct, 1 was moving to York
Manor Nursing Lorne, Newmarket, L3Y
4W7. •
This conununity extends sympathy to
Mr, and Mrs. Russel McGuire in the
passing of her uncle, Richard Bramhill of•
Palmerston •on Sept. 30.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ward and family
accompanied by Richard Moore are away
up north on a hunting trip. They left on
Oct. 3 and expect to be .back _by Thanks-
giving. -

to' be at the home of Mildred McClenaghan
on Monday evening when Rev. and Mrs.
McClenaghan will, show slides of their trip
to California. Dr, Miss Jane Bowls of the
Ministry of Natural Resources, Wingham
will show slides of gardening.
The second meeting of the Whitechurch
Silly Sewers was held on October 5 at 9
a.m. at the home of Mrs. Wardrop. The /
meeting opened with the pledge and six
members answered the roll call. A vote on
the name, Craft Knits, Silly Sewers or
Sewing +Six was held.', It was decided that
Silly Sewers would be the club name. The
minutes of the last meeting were read by
• Cathy Dow, Mrs. Elliott discussed how to
take your body measurements and then
each member took their own: Mrs.
Wardrop, talked about purchasing fabric -,
notions and to check carefully for flaws.
The next meeting is Oct. 16 at ,4.30. p.m. at
Mrs. Elliott's home. They meeting closed
with, the creed.
