Ontario's broiler hatching egg and chick•
industry is facing a. crisis., brought about by
asignificant importation of U.S. chicks on
. the part of some chicken growers.
The Ontario Broiler 'Hatching Egg and
Chick Commission (OBHECC) has schedul-
• ed an important public meeting to describe
,the.actions it has undertaken to correct this •
problem. OBHECC will provide .media
. representatives with. ample opportunity to
question -industry spokespersons following
a • formal ,presentation:
It is hoped that .all sectors of the poultry
industry .will be represented at this
meeting. The initiatives being pursued by
OBHECC are vitally important to the
future of Canada's broiler chicken Indus-

(CGIT) chose a new executive with Brenda
Gibson as . president, Julie Nicholson as
vice-president, Bonnie Henderson as sec-
retary and Kim Laidlaw as treasurer. TWO
more new members, Melanie Wylds and
Kristi Stanley, have joined the group. ..
CGIT Week, Oct. 13 - 20, is special this
year as CG1T is celebrating its 70th
anniversary. In Lucknow, members are
holding a Tea Party to honour •fornier
leaders and members and other friends of
CGIT. The group is busy preparing a
banner and other decorations, making
cookies and planning a shout program, The
. girls will also be participating in their own
Churches during the month.
