provincial assistance for red meat. producers
The October session of W est Wawanosh
Township Council took place in the office at
the municipal works. garage on Tuesday
, evening, Oct, 1, 1985. All members were in
attendance with the exception of Deputy-
Reeve Brindley. Reeve Aitchison presided.
In items of correspondence was a
request, from Ross Eedy, chairman of the
Huron County Pork Producers Association,
for council to pass a resolution seeking
provincial assistance for the red meat
producers of Ontario, A motion from
councillors Raynard and Todd, That the
Township of West Wawanosh hereby
agrees to support the Huron County red
meat oproducers by forwarding a resolu-
tion to the Premier of Ontario, David
Peterson, Ontario Treasurer Robert Nixon,
and Minister of Agriculture Jack Riddell,
was carried. Other correspondence includ-
ed an invitation from Morris Township for
township officials to attend the opening of
the Municipal Office and Works Garage.
Council discussed : an outstanding bal-
ance against the Young Drain. Motion by
Councillors Hickey and Raynard, That
West Wawanosh Township Council hereby
writes off the balance of the Young Drain
account, amounting to $150.30, due to the

drainage loans in the amount of $14,300,
was given first,. second and thud reading.,
and was passed on motion by councillors

regard to a recent arena board meeting in.
Lucknow.
A letter from the Blyth District Fire Area
Board raised the issue of the 5 per cent per
annum levy against Auburn, whichis
deemed somewhat unfair. Council passed a
motion by councillors Raynard and Hickey,
That the Township of West Wawanosh
hereby agrees to accept an additional 2 per
Cent of the levy fur the Blyth District Fire
Area, making a total levy of 7 per Cent for
West Wawanosh; provided that the
Township of Hullett is agreeagle to accept-
ing 2. per cent also, and the . Township of
East Wawanosh 1 per pent; and thereby
eliminating the 5 per cent now levied on
Auburn.
Council endorsed the resolution of the
Township of Onondaga • in respect to
bilingualism as it pertains to municipal
records being produced in both English
and French, The resolution maintains that
the 'phrase. "where necessary" could be
interpreted to mean one person's request

Youth vote discussed

members, but most were away at school and
could not make the meeting. Mr. Earle, one
of nine youths at the meeting, is an honors
student at University of Waterloo.
Delegates to convention '
The Huron -Bruce PC Association elected
eight adult delegates and two youth
delegates to vote at 'the provincial party
leadership convention to be held this fall.
None of the senior delegate's . questioned
after the meeting had made a decision as to
who they wo(ild support.
Doug Earle, a, Port Elgin native,. and Ross
Farrell of Ripley were chosen, to be youth
delegates. Mr. Farrell said he Was undecid-
ed as to who he would support but Mr. Earle.
had made up his mind- to support Dennis
Timbrell. ' -
"I'm supporting Dennis Timbrell and so
far he's leading," he said. "I think Dennis is
the best man to win and lead our party to
leadership."
Alternates to the youth delegates are
Melaine Franklin" and:' Scott Steele. Both
members were absent kohl the meeting.
Four women and four men, were
nominated to attend the Convention as
-senior delegates. Judy Snobelen, Mang Ben-
nett, Alma Conn and association President
Barb Fisher will be the female delegates.
The male delegate's will be: John Slade, Ken
. Campbell, Loran Peters. and Weir Seane.
Alternates to the female group"are Nancy
Becker (first alternate) and Emma Peters.
Male alternates are Den Poulton (first alter-
nate) and Glenn Sutton.
New executive -
The -riding association elected its new ex-
ecutive at the meeting also. They are: Past
President Mike Snobelen; President Barb
Fisher; First Vice -President Marg Bennett;
Second Vice -President • . Ken Campbell;
Secretary Don MacI:eod and Treasurer Joe
