Mrs. Agnes Hodgins was hostess for the
meeting of the Anglican Church Women on
Thursday afternoon. Harvest was the
theme of the meeting and the roll call.
Mrs. Delbert Hedley presided and gave a
suitable poem and read the Scripture. The
hymn "To plough the fields and scatter"
was sung followed by prayer.
The minutes and communications were
read by Mrs. Ronald Thacker as well as a
lovely card from Mrs., John (Mary 1 Scott
for. being remembered while she was
hospitalized. The president expressed her
appreciation for a sympathy card and
phone calls. following the death of her
niece, Sherri Irwin and Mrs. Roy Collins
,spoke of a tangible expression tA, be given
by the youth group. in Sherri's memory. A
card was signed for Mrs. Jack Hodgins
who is ill.
Mrs. Roy Collins and Mrs. Eric Thacker
suggested the date for the Parish•Service
and Christmas Sunday School Concert be
on Dec.. 15. followed by a luncheon. The fall
deanery meeting will be held at Kincar• -
dine on Oct. 1 when the guest speaker will
be Daphne Ives. The secretary read the ar-
ticles needed for the bales which will.. be
packed at the October .meeting when Mrs.
Eric Thacker is hostess. Mrs. Delbert
Hedley and Mrs.. Ronald Thacker were
conveners and each gave a lovely reading
on harvest. / -
Mrs: Ronald Thacker and Edna Boyle
conducted contests. May Boyle . gave a
reviewof the Huron Church News. selec-
ting articles that were of interest to all and
•concluded with a harvest poem. Mrs:
Louise Schneller gave "a reading entitled
"Harvest Time." Mrs. Agnes Hodgins con-
cluded with a humorous reading followed
by "Spending this day" ands"God's gifts."

pleasure in being able to be present after .
her visit with Reverend and Mrs. George
Garratt at Weston; who sent .their .best
wishes . to all.. She then asked the blessing
and delicious refreshments were served by.
the hostess, and a time of fellowship was
enjoyed. • "
Mrs.. Delbert Hedley and Mrs. John
Visser and Becky visited on Sept. 11 at the
home of Mr. 'and Mrs. .Ross Irwin 'at ,
Lucknow.
Mrs. ',Marretta Hodgins returned home
on Sept. 15 after spending a month at
Niagara Falls and St. Catharineswith her
family.
Mrs. Marjorie Bennett and Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Whiteside (Sr. ) of Toronto and;
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiteside (Jr.) and
their . three children spent .the weekend
here and were up especially for the dedica-
tion service at the Anglican Church on Sun •

Mrs. Frank Maulden and Miss Dorothy
Peach, who is here from England (a W.I.
guest ), were luncheon visitors on Saturday

Ladies from Holyrood Women's Institute
and Kinloss (Silver Lake Institute) went to
Ehnira .on the bus trip to the Mennonite
area on Sept. 13 and will also be guests of
the Purple Grove Women's Institute on
Wednesday night.

Mauldenwere entertained on Thursday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. Francis
Boyle and viewed Heather Boyle's many
beautiful shower and wedding gifts.
Reverend D.L. Howlett, a represen-
tative. of London District Bible Society,
will make his annual fall visit. Sept. 17
when the meeting . will be in . the
Pentecostal Church. Rev. M. Christensen

Breckles and his wife are vacationing.

tended a board meeting at Belgrave.

On Sunday the Barr -Cormack picnic was
held at the Kinloss Community Centre
hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jack $arr; of
Kinlough and Mr! and Mrs. Morley Bushell
of Wingham. Guests were present from
Waterloo, Wroxeter,• Shakespeare,
Hickson and Port Stanley.

Mrs. A.J. Wilson of the special occa-
sions committee reported five members
over 90 years of age:had been remembered
in a suitable manner. All were pleased to
have Mrs. N.J. McKenzie at the meeting at
the age of X34. Mrs. Gordon Cayley com-
mented on the 70th anniversary C.G.LT.
tea being planned for October 19. The an-
niversary supper will be on Oct. 22. The
meeting closed with the singing of
"Breathe on Me Breath of God", and
prayer by the president. A social time
followed.
President Mrs. Clarence Ritchie
presented from the general meeting of the
U.C.W. held on Sept. 10. Mrs. Harvey
Houston was pianist. Mrs. Charles . Mac-
Donald, a former member , of St. Helen's
church, extended a warm welcome to the
U.C.W. members of,thatchurch which was
closed recently. The hymn "Blest be, the
tide that binds" was sung. The steward=
ship committee was in charge of the pro-
gram and was chaired by convenor Mrs.
Robert Campbell. Scriptures, meditation
and prayers Were ably given by Mrs. Alex
Hackett, Mrs. Robert Campbell and Mrs.
Robert Finlay, basest on Paul's letter to
the Philippians, Chapter 2, Verses 1-15-.
A well . prepared stewardship paper by
Mrs. Ross Shiells was read by Mrs.
Lawrence McLeod. Strong emphasis was
placed on the giving of our time,: talents
and material possessions, to the best of our
ability. They must be invested in the ser-
vice of God for the betterment of the whole
world. "Take my life, and let it be" was
sung. The offering was received' by Mrs.
Mary Poth and Mrs. Walter Dexter. Mrs.
Robert Finlay gave the offertory prayer.
Mrs. Harvey Houston 'gave a lovely piano
solo. The program concluded with the sing'-
ing of "Go Labour On".
Mrs. Ritchie presided for the business
portion of the meeting and read a poem
