Life long dreain becomes a reality
Although it has .taken some time with.
some- detours on the way, Dwayne Thielke
has been. able to fulfill a goal of his since
childhood., He will be the Lucknow Chris-
tian Reformed Church's new minister
after an installment ceremony on Sept. 27.
The candidate .minister and his wife;
Gladys, have only recently moved to the
village to enable Dwayne to take up duties.
He worked for 18 years at the Graybar.
Electric Company in Grand Rapids,
Michigan before studying to be a minister.
"•I had hoped and wanted to do this.
basically all my life, and finally the oppor-
tunity came," he said.
The Reformed Theological Seminary in
Jackson, Mississippi accepted the man

Divinity degree there. After that, Dwayne
studied for a year at Calvin Theological
Seminary in .Grand Rapids, Michigan
where the continent's Christian Reformed
ministers are trained,
During the summer while studying,, the
candidate minister worked in Windsor,
+Blyth, Cleveland and in Wellandport, On-
tario learning much, of his. work through.
temporary placements.
After the final schooling hurdle of an ex-
am he is to take on Sept. 18, his wish will
come true.
He's looking forward to working and liv-
ing in Lucknow. The opportunities for a
more varied ministry such as those in or
near a large urban centre may be curtail-
ed but the individuality of Lucknow poses a
challenge in itself. Gladys will get a taste
of that urban life in any event, as she com-
pletes her degree at the University of
Waterloo in kinesiology. /
"I will try to establish some goals but
they, can't be established for the Lucknow
CHURCH
church without the leaders of the con-
gregation.
"I do hope to make the Lucknow Chris-
tian Reformed. Church a genuine Christian
witness and offer the opportunity for ge-
nuine spiritual growth among members of
the church and community.
"I would also like the Lucknow, Christian
Reformed Church to be a real integral part
of this community. Churches can
sometimes tend to become little separate
societies - that's why I made that point,"
he concluded.
The ceremony will be held Sept. 27 with.
Gerrit Veeneman of the Listowel Christian.
