She read a poem "This Precious Day" and the U.C.W. Purpose. Hymn 616 was Sung. The roll call, a vese from your favourite Psalm was answered by 16 . members; Two members were wished happy birthday •- IsobellVtiller and Anna Mae Hunter. The Friendship secretary's report was given. by Mrs. Hunter and a collection taken for cards for her work. Bars of soap were donated . for supply and further donations will be accepted at the October meeting: Our unit is in charge of church flowers for September. Mrs. Hunter would appreciate any offering of flowers. Mrs. Clarence Irwin read an account of churches at llderton collecting two box cars of corn for Africa. Many people helped in many ways including some Salvation Army members. Anyone wishing & book soon to be published on the history of our church, are asked to sign for, same this week. week. Our representative to the home for battered wives and children in Goderich is Mrs. V. Hunter. Our unit is to entertain the patients at Pinecrest 'this month. Mrs. McDonald is to inquire for a suitable time. Mrs. Hunter convened the program on the Psalms. Hymn 594 was sung and prayer offered. Mrs. Wm. Humphrey read the scripture, a Psalm on God's search for man. Mrs. Hunter said the Psalm are the centre of the Bible and were written by David, Moses and Soloman, among others. It's everyones favourite book of the Bible and Jesus made two quotes from the Psalms while on the cross. Mrs. Raynard Ackert spoke on the 121st Psalm. She said while we should remember. the past, we should also look forward to the future. Mrs. Eldon Henderson spoke on the 23rd Psalm, She said it is the shepherd's Psalm. The shepherd cares for and watches over his sheep, just as our Heavenly Father cares for us. Mrs! Ellen Cardis gave a humorous reading on "Your Pastor and Mine". A quartet consisting of Mrs. M. MacGillivray, Mrs. Mamie Henderson, Mrs. Ellen Cardis, and Mrs. Ruby McDon- ald, sangtwo lovely numbers; "The Beau- tiful Garden 'of Prayer" and "Love Lilted Me". " Mrs: Edith Webster accompanied them on the piano. Mrs. McDonald thanked all those: taking part in the program and hoped our three new members from St. Helens,. Mrs. Margaret Cameron, Miss Isobel Miller and Mrs. Helen Todd, would enjoy our fellow- ship and meetings. She closed the meeting. 'with prayer and .concluded a biblical contest while the comh,ittee served lunch. • Koreans in Canada program Univ 4 Unit 4 of the Lucknow United Church Women met .on September 3 at 8'p.m. in the church parlor. Mrs. William Bogues and her committee of Mrs. Charles ,Anderson, Mrs. D. Logan and Mrs, A. J. Wilton, were in charge of . the program. The theme for the program was "Koreans in Canada". The hymn "In Christ there is no east or west" was sung, followed by the. scripture which was read by, Mrs. Charles Anderson. Mrs. D. Logan and Mrs: Charles Ander- son gave a diaologue, comparing life in Korea and in Canada. Mrs. Bogues gave an account of a Korean girl's experiences when she and her family moved to Canada from Korea. She enlarged on the problems they all " faced, and she looked at the situations in how we in Canada accept them into our culture. Mrs. Bogues and MIs. A, J. Wilson gave a dialogue comparing the lives of Korean women to that of women in our culture. The members formed discussion groups, and it was enlightening to hear the views of all, concerning the topics, presented:' Mrs. Anderson gave the offertory prayer after which . the hymn, "Lead Kindly light" was sung. Mrs. D. Logan dosed this part of the program with a prayer. A very pleasing piano solo was presented by Brenda Davies. Mrs.' Bob,Campbell was in charge of the business part of the meeting and welcomed' everyone back after the summer. The rolleall was answered by 18 members by an article from the Observer. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Ken Cameron. Mrs. Bogues volunteered to fill the convenership of Community Friendship for the balance of the year. Mrs. Charles Davies reported for the 9/'Supply and Welfare committee and asked for quilt patches to be donated as four quilts . are to be made. Our unit is in charge of flowers for the sanctuary during the month of October. Mrs. George Joynt and Mrs. A. J. Wilson are the conveners of this commit- tee. Mrs, Gordon Cayley reported for Amnesty international. Mrs. Bob Camp- bell closed the meeting with prayer. Refreshments were served by the committee and a social time followed. Jeanetta Wilhelm Suddenly in the General Hospital, Strat- ford, on Tuesday,. August 27, 1985. Jeanetta Evelyn Wilhelm (Barge) died in. Stratford General Hospital August 27, 1985 in her 89th year. She was predeceased byher first husband, Frank Plaskett (1971) and was married to Daniel Wilhelm in 1977. She was the mother of Russell Plaskett, the husband of Marjorie of Strat- ford, Olive married to Oliver Edwards also of Stratford and Sylvia, married to Lyle McClure of RR 5, Stratford. Also survived by seven grandchildren and ' 16 great grandchildren. She. was sister to Louis Barge of An - caster, Mrs. John (Elsie) Lasek of London and Dorothy (Mrs. Fred Buckingham) of Stratford. She was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Gordon, (Ruth) Fink (1971) and one' granddaughter Ruth' Olive Mor- row in 1984. • The family received friends at the Hein- luck Funeral Home and the service was field at Central United Church on Aug. 29. Reverend Norman Gibson officiated and interment was at the Avondale Cemetery in Stratford. McDONALD. Proud parents are Allan arid Chris'McDon- ald, R. R 2,7-Lucknow. Proud grandparents , are Charlie and Ruby McDonald and Jack and Linda Sticklend of Luclmow. Proud great grandmother is'Mrs. Hester Clark of Newmarket.
