The August meeting of Whitechurch
U.C.W. was held .August 27 at the home of
Mrs. Elwood Gmskorth, Goderich. Mrs.
Evelyn Gibb opened the meeting with a
meditation, and read thecripture..
Muriel Thompson led irtpraycr and all
sang From Every Stormy Wind That
Blows".
Muriel Thompson introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Edith Gibson of Wingham,
who spoke on Christian Development and
Leadership, and the home which takes in
mother, .father and even grandparents, to
raise a family. She read a poem "Who will
take Grandma?" Mrs. Ball thanked Mrs.
Gibson for her address and Muriel Thomp-
son presented her with gift of cut flowers.
All sang the "Lord's My Shepherd".
The collection and Least Coin . were
received. The offertory prayer was given
by Mrs. Champman. Mrs. Farrier thanked
the hostess and all who took part in the
program.
Eleven answered the rollcall• with an
item on Korea: Rev. G. Ball closed the
meeting ` with prayer. The birthday tea
followed.
Mr. Jack Whytock left last Monday for
Vancouver. He was accompanied by his
father, Carman, arriving in Vancouver
the evening of August 29. Carman will
soon be back. •
On Friday evening Mr! and and Mrs. Jim
Young celebrated their 25th wedding
anniversary in the Legion Hall They
received .greetings, cards and gifts. Tiffin's
Orchestra, who played for their wedding,
also played for this 25th anniversary. They
enjoyed all kinds of old• time dances. Lunch
served by the Legionwas prepared by the
Youngs. The community adds their best
wishes for many more years of happiness. `
Mrs. Carol Bell of rnverhuron and grand-
daughter Robin Bell of Walkerton .holiday-
ing with Mrs. Bell, 'visited August 26 with
Mr. and Mrs.'_Victor Emerson.
Tuesday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Emerson were Mrs. Grace Richardson of
Zambia, Africa and her sister, Mrs. Savage
of Wingham.
Callers on Emersons on August 28 were
Gordon Rintoul and -Mrs. Elsie Houston,
Lucknow and on Friday evening, Mr.
Hamn of Blyth.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier. returned home on
Monday after a week's visit in Sarnia
A Labour Day get-togethe was held at
Bevin Tiffins for Mr. and Mrs. Alan
Falconer,Tim, Amy and Tony, Mr. and •
Mrs. Belmore and Shawn and Mrs. Alex
Craig, Lana, Ryan and Janet of Listowel.
Mrs. Falconer, Mrs. Hugh MacMillan,
Mrs. Isabel Tiffin and,Mr: and Mrs. Hector
Purdon spent a holiday at a cottage at
Collingwood. -

Wingham visited September 1 with Mr.
and Mrs. Angus Falconer.
Miss Karen Beecroft of Kitchener spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Beecroft.
Mr. and Mrs.. Dennis Riley have sold
their home on the 12th concession: of East.
Wawanosh and moved back to Toronto,

Ladies ball team- on winning the "B"
championship when they played Kinloss
ladies last Tuesday evening at Lucknow.
Amnesty Week for overdue. books

Elgin, called in Sunday evening on their
way; home.

were all home during the last week to
sympathize with their parents on the loss of •
their barn by fire. •
