The Blyth Festival will be holding its'
fast Car Rally on Saturday, September 14,
1985 - a "fun, run", through the beautiful
Huron County countryside. Cars will 'de-
part from the Blyth Memorial Hall between'
9:00 a.m. and 12'inoon. It is expected the
rally -will take about 3 hours - unless you
get hopelessly lost, in which case you will
have to open your "emergency. kit (prow-
ided to all' registrants at the outset). There
isa lune spot with washrooms en mute -
. but we can't say exactly where or it will
give the game. away!
- Members of the pubic are invited to, join
in the fun. Get into the spirit by inventing a
huniourous name for your'team or come in
costume (so long at it .doesn'thamper your
driving ability). It is recommended - that
each team consist ofat least two people;
one to drive, the other to navigate and 'read
the instructions. This is an ideal event for
the .whole family - children can get in on
the act by watching out for cluesand
landmarks.
Please note, this is NOT a raee,' The.
object of the rally is to correctly' answer
questions and identify check -points along .
the route, while enjoying the challenge and
taking in the scenery.
The car rally is a fund-raising event with-
al; mantes going towards the capital
projects fund of the Blyth Festival. Teams
may pre -register 'by calling the Blyth
Festival Bo* Office at 523-9300 or 9225,- or
may register on the morning of September
14 . itself: Registration costs. $5.00 per Car, '
regardless of the number of people in the
vehicle. First prize is one night's accommo-
dation for two at the- 4 star Renton Place
Motor Hotel 'in Palmerston; their fitness
centre includes an indoor pool, ,sauna,
whirlpool, squash courts, etc. Further
prizes will be 1,yvarded in various other,
categories' ' ,

Exhibition continues in •
An exhibition of the paintings of
Canadian wildlife artists Robert Bateman;
George McLean, Ron Kingswood, and
William Creighton 'will open at the Blyth
Festival Art Gallery on Friday, August 16.
- and will be on •display until the close of •the
• season on September 14. •
"It is a real coup to be able to mount an
exhibition of this calibre` in a small village
like Blyth," said Visual Arts Director, Joan
Chandler. "We have dealt directly with the
artists themselves for this exhibition; it is a
demonstration of their support for small
galleries- like ours. These :paintings are
usually only seen in major •galleries across
Canada and the world • - in fact, one
•
painting which we, had hoped would be • in
our exhibition is currently on its way to
Munich. And thereis even one in Bucking-
ham Palace!"
1 The paintings depictall aspects of
Canadian wildlife: a hawk eyeing his prey,
a blackbird.in the bullrushes,•.a fox.stallring,
- through the snow, a stag - among • the Fall
'leaves. Fur feathers, • and plants , are all
shown with amazing detail. Included in the
.exhibition, is Bateman's well known paint-
• .
ing, "Kittiwake Greeting".
All the artists -are originally from south-
western Ontario. George McLean, Ron
Kingswood, and William'Creightonplan to -
attend the opening at 7.00 p.m. on'Augu t •
16. Robert Bateman will be moving into his, ,
new hornein British Columbia at that time
and so, unfortunately, is unable to attend.
Members of the public are warmly invited
to attend the Opening,, meet with the
artists, and view these extraordinary paint-

David Gordon Ross and Kimberly Ann
Dodds were united in -marriage in Chalet-
ers Presbyterian .Church, Whitechurch on
July 27, 1985. Reverend William Hender-
son presided. The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs: Donald Ross, R R. 5, Luck ow
and the bride is thedaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Dodds, R R 2, Teeswater.
The maid of honour was Jo McCormick, a
friend of the bride and bridesmaids were
Karen Atkinson, a friend of the bride, Kay
Ross and Donna Sheridan. The groomsman
Robert RosS, is a brother of the groom, as
- were two of the ushers, Doug and Brian
Ross. Danny de.Boer, a friend of the groom
as also an usher. The reception; held at the
Teeswater Community Centre, was follow-
ed by a honeymoon in Niagara Falls and
Prince Edward Lsland. The couple will
reside in Whitechurch.

• Deborah Ann Karen and Brian Gordon
' Howes were united in marriage by Pastor
Robert Bugbee at. Our Saviour Luther
Church, London, Ontario on Saturday, May
18, 1985. Debbie is the daughter of Robert
and Mabel Karcx of London. Brian is the
son of Colin and Gail, Howes, R.. R. 3, God-
erch...Attending the bride as maid of
honour was ,Sheila Graham, friend of" the
bride. Bridesmaids were: Sharon and
Lorelee Howes, sisters of the groom and
Lisa Karen, sister of the bride. Best man
was Mike Leitch and Bob Fuller was the
groomsman. Both are,friends of the' groom.
Ushers were Jim Oke, cousin of the groom
and ' Steve Karcz, the bride's brother.
Adam Oke performed well as ringbearer,
He is the second cousin of the groom,
Debbie and Brian were piped out of the
church by Steve MacKenzie, second cousin
of the groom. Following a honeymoon in
St. Lucia, Brian and Debbie are residing at
R. R. 3, Goderich.
