Cec getting better at home
• On Monday of last week JoluC C. , Mac-
Donald and George MacLennan drove Mr.
• and Mrs. Cecil Mooney back home to
Woodstock. Cecil had taken ill during the
•night and they wanted to get him home to his
own doctor. Latest word received here by
his sister Mrs. Adelene Martyn is that he is
• getting better at his home. Ripley folks ar!'
glad to hear this news.
Many have memories of his great hockey
playing years - first in Ripley then in
, Wingham and finally in Woodstock. These
were the Depression years, with the oppor-
tunities of these times Cec would have been
• playing pro hockey. In the early thirties we
• watched him playing as the.centre player on
the first line of the Woodstock Red bevils in,
the senior OHA.
The Western UniVersity Seniors were in •
• the same group as Woodstock, Chatham and
other big towns, even London itself with
their London East team and-alwaVs a couple
of Arbours playing on it.
• In a game against Western •University

York Street -( was it?) Cecil had lost both
wing players - serving minor penalties "
within seconds of each other. There Cecil
was alone, back are the two defencemen and
the goalie. Well the goalie never bad to stop
a shot. He never stopped skating circles
• between th,e two blue linei. Two minutes, it
is a long time to keep skating.
• He would get down low to the ice, then lash
out, with his stick and long arm .and
somehow come up with the puck or knock it
away. As Ab Wylds recalls Western 'never
did get the puck into the WoodstocIF end in
those two minutes. We have never seen such
a demonstration even on television. Well
Ripley folks wish Cec well with his health.
MILDRED CONQUER.
