Chatsworth,. Ontario will be home of
the 1st annual Grey -Bruce Invitational
Slowpitch championships..
The event will be run under C.A.S.A.
Slowpitch rules and will consist of
men's. teams only for this inaugural
event:
All leagues playing within the
counties of Grey or Bruce will receive
invitations to send their 'pennant winner
plus the runner-up club as of August 18,
1985. Sixteen teams will be accepted
and the winner will be crowned the
Men's Grey -Bruce Slowpitch Champ-
ions..
Any teams not receiving invitations
and wanting to enter the tournament

Slight student increase
The Bruce County Board .of Education
expects enrolment at Luclmow Central
School and Kinloss Central School in
Holyrood to remain much the same as it.

Ashfield Township said the Huron County
;Board of. Education expects only a slight
rise in registration at the school.
• Jack Bowers of the Bruce Board said that
Luclmow Central is expecting 197 students
to register for the coming year, • compared
• with 192 attending the school as of June 30,
1985.
Kinloss Central is expected to. lose a
couple of students. On June 30, 1985 there
were 84 children attending the school while

One of the highlights of the 4-H program
is Achievement Day. For the 4-11 members
it is a chance to":display ; their projects.Foir
the public it is a part of the attraction of
;local Fall Fairs. ,
Along with the more traditional 4-11 calf
shows, some members will be showing
• fancy fowl, lambs, goats and swine. Field
crops, fleeces, eggs and dressed poultry
will also be displayed. There will also. be
educational displays for the public to view.
4-11 is fun and offers -young .people the
opportunity to "Learn to do by Doing". At.
Achievement Day, everyone is a winner.

Kincardine art workshop
A vibrant, energetic, bold and highly im-
aginative artist will conduct a three day
I workshop in Kincardine next month.
Philippa Faulkner, Who has work hanging
in Windsor Castle in the Royal Collection of
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, will host the
seminars at the town hall Sept. 13. 14 and 15.
Starting with.a slide show presentationof
some of her own work Friday night, two full
days from 9-5 :00 pm will form the. concrete
part of the workshop.
'She vyill concentrate on self -exploration
rather than technique during her seminars
' here. Drawing and composition will be
stressed. •
Sponsored by Visual Arts Kincardine, in-
formation and • registration details are

Participants are asked 'to provide their
own equipment; any media may be used,
watercolor, acrylic, oil, etc.
The public is welcope to attend the slide
presentation of the artist's work starting at
8:00 prn. There will be cheese and punch
provided.
Saturday and Sunday the workshop will
run from M:00 pm.
Studied 'in Mexico
Born in Belleville, the artist studied in
Toronto, New York and Mexico: This year,
she attended a six week colorworkshop at
the Instituto Allende in Mexico. • •
While her work has been hung in group
shows since 1978, she has had solo exhibi-
tions of her own. This Year, her work will be
shown in Toronto at the Merton Gallery in
October. Next year, she willhave a solo ex-
hibition at the London Art Gallery in May.
She has taught many course's and held
seminars for, artists since 1972 when she
taught night.classes at Centennial College.
Last year, she taught in Barrie, Markham
and Unionville.
This year, she held a one week workshop
at Seneca College in August and also
another in Barrie.
Working but of a studio in Markham,
Philippa Faulkner promises to provide a
rewarding experience at the September
workshop in Kincardine.
Visual Arts Kincardine membership is
open to all amateur and practicing artists in
the area and neighboring communities as
well as persons who simply have an interest
in the arts.
