Cliff Amstey reduced the deficit to 5-2 16 seconds later before Gamble completed his hat trick at 11:45, Twolan and Stephen Fry engineering the goal. Mark Bruin'ng scored Thornton's third goal in ,the final two tninutes of the period. . Ripley added some insurance in the final frame, Stephen Keelan scoring twice while Colin Hatch replied for Thornton. MacLeod had a sthady game in goal for the winners, helped by. defenseman Godfrey, Alec Boyd, Donald Martyn; Fry and Dennis German. The champs returned home after mid- night where they were taken on the ceremonial fire truck ride through the village. 'Ripley defeated Tiverton, Brussels and Wellington to reach the final series.
