Pot luck dinner enjoyed
members.. Mrs. Walden gave the an-
nouncements and we closed with a hymn
and the .members repeated the benedic-
tion.
CHURCH
Unit 1
Unit 1 of the Lucknow U. C. W met in the
church parlour on Tuesday, June 4th at -
1.30
t1.30 p.m. A tasty dessert was enjoyed by
14 members and one guest.
President, Mrs. Ross Shiells, opened the
meeting with the call to worship on the
theme "roads" and read a poem. Mrs.
Shiells presided for the business. A col-
lection was taken for Meals on Wheels.
The. recycling drive will be held on June 13.
Mrs. Peter Cook presided for the
meditation and gave a reading about God's
plan. Mrs. Stuart Reavie read a poem and
Mrs. Cook spoke on travelling life's road.
Jesus walked many dusty roads and
although times have changed, we still have
totravel many rough and difficult roads.
Mrs. Mildred Yoeman led in prayer and
Mrs. Cook gave a.reading, followed by two
hymns. She read an article entitled, We
can't quit now, which dealt with surviving
life's storms, and we prayed for the victims
of the tornado which struck last weekend.
A fun time with contests and several sing
songs was enjoyed.,A picture of our unit
was taken for the history book and the
meeting was adjourned.
Unit 2
Unit two met on Tuesday June 5 at 12.30
'p.m. at Point Clark at the cottage of Mr..
and Mrs. Elwood Irwin/ for a pot luck
dinner. Mrs. William . Campbell was the
hostess. Following the dinner Mrs. Walden,
and Mrs. Houston took pictures for the
church book. Mrs. Walden thanked the,
hostess for having the meeting and she
opened with a. poem. _
The roll call was answered. by 17 ladies
with your favourite hymn. Mrs. Gordon
Morrison was chair lady for the program,
with the theme being Faith. She opened
with a poem on Faith, followed by a hymn.
The scripture.reading from Hebrews was
read by Mrs. Jim Mathers. Miss Helen
Thompson gave a most inspiring medita-
tion on Faith, followed with prayer. Miss
Lorna Campbell read two readings on
Faith. Mrs. Glen Walden gave an interest-
ing study on Korean names. The members
also engaged in ' a contest where they
matched Korean and English proverbs.
Mrs. Walden presided for the business.
The minutes were read and approved. The
collection was taken followed by the
offertory prayer. Three birthdays were
added to the birthday bank.
Mrs. Campbell • gave the treasurer's
report which shows we have now 24 paid

Unit 3
Unit 3 met in the church fellowship room
for their June meeting. Grace was sung and
the members enjoyed a delightful luncheon
served by the committee.
Mrs. Chas. MacDonald welcomed all pre-
sent and presided for the business portion.
She read a poem, read the U.C.W. Purpose
and offered prayer. The roll call was
answered by naming your favourite4hymn
by 15 members. The secretary's report was
given and a letter from Mrs. Jessie Alton 'in
Australia was read. Mrs. Ritchie gave the
treausrer's report and the birthday jar was
passed for three members Mrs. R. Ackert,
Mrs. W. De Boer and Mrs. H. Webster.
Cardboard, jars and tins will be picked up
for recycling behind the arena June 13.
Clothing for Goodwill will be sent June 15..
Mrs. A. Gibson reported for meals -on -
wheels. Mrs. C. Irw'.n gave an article on
citizenship and social action. Reading.
reflection and action are ways .we can help
with our Stewardship, Mrs. A. Hackett said.
Mrs. R. Ackert convened the program.,
Her theme was The Art of Living. She read
several poems to illustrate her subject.

Irwin and Mrs. A. Ritchie.
Mrs. M. MacGillvray played souse
delightful harmonica selections. Mrs. Chas
MacDonald reada poem and the meeting
was closed with prayer.
Resident receives
business degree
OLIVEE
Congratulations to Brian McGuire, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGuire of the Olivet
area who has received his Honors- Bachelor
of Business Administration Diploma. Brian
is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University
in Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGuire at-
tended the graduation ceremony at the Kit-
chener Memorial Auditorium on Sunday,
May 26.
Mrs. Jack McGuire and Mrs. Mary Black
of Lucknow visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Moskal and Adon in Ingersoll on
Sunday.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs., Bill
Black of Edmonton on the birth of their baby
girl, Meaghan Kathleen Beatrice. Bill is the
son of Mrs. Mary Black and the late Walter
Black of Lucknow and formerly of .the 4th
Concession of Olivet.
