The Lucknow Sentinel, 1985-06-05, Page 7Dear Editor: Cancer researchers across the country received $22 milligh in awards from the Ntionai Cancer Institute of Canada. The majority of theseunds are raised during the Canadian Cancer Society's annual April campaign. Research is only one of the many areas that are supported by the money raised by the willing volunteers and the generous support of the Canadian people. Locally, the campaign was an outstanding success 'with $4,388.70 .col- lected. The Lucknow area includes the districts canvassed by the Women's In- stitutes of Reid's Corners, Holyrood and Kairshea. Area residents attend 50thanniversary celebration in Georgetown bar Betty Alto 1 e Bernice Kemp hosted a family card party on Friday evening to celebrate her mother's, Martha Livingston's birthday. Those attending were Adele Westlake and Dorothy Beamish of Brampton, Cliff, Joan, -Lea Anne and Terry Livingston; Harvey. Pat and Kirk Livingston and Bea, Gord and Gail Kemp. Hary and Pat Livingston were guests of Tom and Joan Helm at Lions Ladies night on the weekend. Paul Kuipers of Georgetown is presently working with Hary Livingston on the farm. Pat. and Kirk•Livingston and Paul Kuipers attended the 50th wedding anniversary of their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kuipers on May 25. The special celebration was held at Pat and Paul's nal ents, Mr. and Mrs. Khein Kuipers of Georgetown. Mr. and Mts. Kuipers' received a plaque from 'Premier Miller and a letter of congratula- tions from the Dutch embassy. Mr. Kuipers has been hospitalized for some time now. however he was able to be out for the day and enjoy the company of his family all gathered together. A daughter, Ann Charles and her children, Philip and Martin were able to come home frot'n Newfoundland for the week. Herb and Marie Wilkins visited with her sister Betty ' and Stan Fenner in Niagara Falls for the weekend. Rev. and Mrs. Scott attended the London Conference . of United Church of Canada in Leamington on Friday and Saturday. Dar; rell and Ian visited with Frank and Loreen Alton while their parents were away. Congratulations to Dale and Wendy Irvin and Garrett, in Waterloo, on the birth of their new baby boy. Frank and Mary Glenn of Lucknow visited on Sunday with Hugh and Dolly Menary. John Pollard has been appointed COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT MANAGER at the Bank of Montreal for the Lucknow -Kincardine area. R.J. (Bob) Zettler, Senior Commercial Banking Manager for the Bank of Montreal made the announcement recently. Mr. Pollard began his new position May 21/85. John brings with him substantial banking experience, the last eight years in commercial agricultural banking in Southwestern Ontario. John was born in Kincardine and his wife Joan (nee MacKenzie) grew up in Lucknow and they look forward to moving back to the area. In recognition of the Lucknow-Kincardine area being an important Agricultural & Commercial District for the Bank of Montreal, Bob Zettler also announced the appointment of John Cutting as Manager Commercial Banking for. the Lucknow- Wingham-Kincardine area. John was formerly the Branch Manager of Kincardine Branch for 13 years, and brings with him 26 years of banking experience. He will be moving his family back to Kincardine and will be spending part of his time in Lucknow. These appointments are further evidence of the Bank of Mon- treal's commitment to provide strong professional service to their commercial and agricultural customers in the area.
