Lively sing -song at meeting
On Wednesday evening the United
Church U.C.W. held their Thankoffering
service with guests from Wingham,
Bluevale, Brick, Donnybrook, Trinity and
St. Helens. _
The president, Agnes Farrier, with
leaders, Mrs. Lorne Dumin and Mrs.
Walter Moore, presided.
Greeters at the door • were Mrs: Dave
Gibb and Mrs. Chapman.. .
A sing _ song livened things up. Mrs.
Farrier extended a warm welcome. The call"
to worshiii was given by Mrs.. Dumin,
involving , the theme, Beauties of the
spring. All members sang a hymn. . .
The scripture was read by Mrs., Moore
and Mrs. Durnin' gave the meditation.
Hugh Sinnamon favoured with a clarinet
solo. Prayer of Thanksgiving and Inter-
cession was given by Mrs. Moore.
Karen Laidlaw gave a piano solo. Mrs.
Ball introduced the guest speaker, ;Mrs.
W arrtn Zinn, who spoke onher trip to the
British Isles. She showed films to the
members She was thanked by Mrs.
Thompson and presented with a gift.
Mrs, Lamb sang a solo. The offering was
received by Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Sleight -
holm and dedicated by Mrs. Dave Gibb.
Rev. G. Ball gave the benediction. All
went to the Sundy School room where the
large crowd enjoyed lunch and a social
time.
Sunday callers on. Mr. arid. Mrs. Vic
Emerson were Mr. and Mrs. Fraser
MacKinnon of Lucknow.
Callers on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs.
Russel McGuire and Miss Mary Hehn of
Wingham and Doris Wilkens, Glenna and
Crystal, with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer-
son.

Mr. and Mrs. G. W . VanderKlippe of
Langside have bought a home in Luclmow
as their son, Bill and wife and family, who
were missionaries, returned. Bill is going
to work the family farm.
Gertrude Tiffin of W ingham visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Dustin Elliott of Wingham spent the
week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
little.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Coleman (nee Doris
McC.lenhghan) of B.C. and Mr. and Mrs.
Barry Moss of Plattsville spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClen-
aghan.. All had dinner- at Benmiller on
Sunday with Mildred McClenaghan and
John MacKinnon to celebrate, Miss
Mildred McClenaghan's birthday.
Miss Karen Beecroft of Kitchener spent.
the weekend at home with her parents Mr.
and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft. They took her
back to Kitchener on Sunday and: visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hurtel.
On Saturday, Michael deBoer, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jim de Boer, had an accident . ,
with a bicycle and was rushed to Wingham
Hospital. It was found he had_. suffered a
concussion. He was revved and returned
home.
We are pleased to report that Alan
Falconer began work at Goderich Museum.
as custodian on Monday, May 6. The

Congratulations to. Tom and Rosalea
Rapson with the birth of their new baby
boy. He is another grandson for. Shirley
and Donald Hackett:
Mary Ann Lemm of Vancouver, B.C.
visited with her mother, Dora Alton and
brothers Stuart and Steven last week. Also
visiting for the weekend were Marjorie and
Peter Levick and Aaron of Ottawa. All
attended the benefit dance in Lucknow'
Friday evening.
Harvey and Betty Ritchie 'visited her
sister, Elva and Bert Wylie in Fordwich
Sunday evening.
About, 50 relatives attended the Irvin
family gathering held at Lillian and Russell
Irvin's on Sunday. •
Ladies of Trinity U.C.W. attended the
Thankoffering meeting in Whitechurch
Wednesday evening and also a concert at
the Nile Sunday evening, where the
Harbouraires sang. •
Music pupils of Ruth Alton took part in
the. Walkerton Rotary Music Festival last
week. In piano, Darrell Scott was first in a
class of 10, with a mark of 85. Shauna
Andrew' was 2nd in a class of 9, with a
mark of 83. Warren Andrew ,placed first in '
his class with a mark of 78. Jodi Webster
was first in a class of 16 with a mark of 85,
and Melissa L ogtenberg had, a mark of 79.
'In the class • for vocal singing, Vicky
Hackett placed third with a mark of 83.
Ceclia Chandler received' marks of '84
and 81, in the grade ten piano category.
4-HAchievement Day held

The 4-11 Basic Baking clubs held their
Achievement Day on May 4 at the Lucknow
Legion. ,
There were nine clubs present from.
Armow, Bervie 'numbers one and two,
Clover Valley, Kairshea, Reids Comers,
Ripley numbers one and two and Holyrood,
the host club.
Joyce Lane of the Holyrood Club was
/ chairperson for the aftemoci She welcom-
ed everyone and called on Joanne Murray
who introduced the guest, Wayne Murray
of Armstrong's Home Bakery in Lucknow.
